Friendship dkj recently asked this question in another thread. "Could Jesus be your friend?" It got me thinking! - Would he feel comfortable hanging out with us? just chillin'?_ _ Joining in on our conversations? Laughing at our jokes? - Would He fit right in with the crowd?--------- _____________________________ What Role do your friends play in your life?

I think the short answer is "no". Haha. Jesus' wasn't sent to this earth to hold our hand and be our cheerleader. He was sent to save us from ourselves and point out our flaws. Personally, I don't think we could even hold His requirements to even be His friend let alone be in relationship with Him. A perfect guy that did no wrong.. I think I would much rather learn from how He resisted the temptations that we all face daily than just talk to Him about my petty little life issues. If we are to learn from Him than who is better to learn from a kind teacher or a friend? I don't know about anyone else, but even though I didn't like school at times the teacher didn't stop teacher. In my opinion a friend is a supporter and a teacher is someone that wants you to grow especially when you have no desire for it.

Just my thoughts though.

My friends play a very important role in my life. Not sure what I'd do without them! I think Jesus would feel comfortable hanging out with us. He's been asked to more than once. Would he laugh at our jokes? Maybe not! Lol ______________ I truly believe, if we ask him to, He'll be with us no matter where we are!

Jesus does call us 'friends' - each and every one who accepts Him at His word.:yay: Of course, just like your earthly friends, that doesn't mean He approves of everything we say, do or think!!!

But even better than being called friends of God, we are His beloved and no matter how badly we screw up (I speak from experience unfortunately), or how long it takes (ditto), He has not and will NEVER forsake us!:yay::applause:

Now that's a kind of friendship and love I'll never match up to or deserver and I pray He doesn't let me forget it...

I won't finish by saying God bless you because YOU already are blessed, far more than you'll ever understand, so I'll simply end on this: Jesus said "it is finished" and for those that believe on Him, things can only get better:party:

Yeap, Jesus would probably say: " Friend, I've got some stuff to do in Afghanistan and Iraq, wanna come?"

Jesus was a friend to tax collectors and sinners; I think he could handle us just fine.

John 15:15 - "I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn't confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me."

Yes, Jesus befriended tax collectors and "sinners" yet the religious people (Pharisees, etc.) hated Him. This is because Jesus calls us to do something harder than following a set of rules and rituals, but infinitely more rewarding: He calls us to seek a personal relationship with Him.

Talking with Him, hanging out with Him, being yourself rather than a religious facade around Him is what He wants.

John 15:13 - "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." He did that for us.

He did that for us. What He wants from us is not mindless obedience. It's to be a friend to Him and seek to be the kind of friend to Him that He is to us.
