What do you think it means?Posted : 19 Feb, 2011 07:25 AMDuring the sermon on the mount, Jesus told us to let our "Yes" mean Yes and our "No" mean No. What does this mean to you? |

What do you think it means?Posted : 19 Feb, 2011 09:33 AMI think Jesus meant, "Keep it Simple", "Be Real". Don't be swearing by this or that; your honesty needs to come from within yourself. People like to swear by something Holier than themselves .......here is the kicker..... We are called to be Holy as God is Holy! It think Jesus is saying: Take Responsibility for your own Word, for you are called to be Holy as your Father in heaven is Holy. |

What do you think it means?Posted : 19 Feb, 2011 09:53 AMI agree with what was said, but to add on to that, it just means to have integrity. To say what you mean and mean what you say |

What do you think it means?Posted : 19 Feb, 2011 10:59 AMExactly! Keep it simple. Say what you mean and mean what you say . My grand-pa has gone to be with Jesus, but people still talk about how if he ever told you something you could bank on it. He was a simple man whose yes meant yes and his no meant no. Much like Jesus! |

What do you think it means?Posted : 19 Feb, 2011 03:42 PMBefore Jesus said those words, He pointed out that we shouldn't swear by anything in heaven or on earth because we don't own any of it. Who are we to swear by anything we don't own? Any attempt to do so is trying to usurp authority that doesn't rightfully belong to us. Therefore, let our "Yes" and our "No" be all we need when trying to establish our integrity. |

What do you think it means?Posted : 19 Feb, 2011 03:47 PMI agree with everyone ... it's an encouragement from Jesus heart and spirit to ours, browneyedgirl, not to be "flighty" in what you say or in promises you make ... if you say yes, if you agree to do something, then do it without making it later a conditional thing for some reason, as many people do to get out of doing what they agreed to do because they hadn't, perhaps, given what they were agreeing to enough thought and prayer ... and if you say no, you don't agree to do something, the same should apply, you should know why you've said no and continue to refuse to do what you know isn't right for you to do, for whatever reason you know that is ... where we can get in trouble with this is when we're not sure if a situation requires a definite yes or no, or if it requires a "maybe" until we ARE sure about "letting our yes be yes and our no be no" .... and this is when we need to seek God's input and clarification, of course, THE MOST!!! |

What do you think it means?Posted : 20 Feb, 2011 10:31 AMprobably what our plt sgt meant when he said: "Also I don't want to hear anyone saying they're giving 110% or 150% or such and such. That makes no sense. You're either giving 100% or you're not." Great speach that day... |
