Honestly?

It's got to be the initial attraction/chemistry, getting to know her heart and then winning it. A woman that is herself, down to earth, natural, feminine. A woman that gives you sleepless nights and butterflies in the stomach, cos you can't stop thinking about her. A woman that is true, full of love and has a small place for me in her heart, squeezed in next to Jesus. A woman that thinks of me asI do her, this would be being in love, of course and the search would be over. :hearts:

I was having dinner with some close friends of the family a few months back. They had just celebrated their fifty third wedding anniversary. My family and I have known this family since I was ten. I was best friends with the youngest son when both of us sang in an international boys choir together.

During my younger years, I was always at their house for typical things like sleepovers and parties. They were also kind enough to take me in for about a month when my mom had an extended stay at the hospital due to some surgery.

During my times with them, I was always smiling at the way the Mom and Dad interacted with each other. I can't count the days when I would innocently eavesdrop on the conversations coming from the kitchen as the Mom and Dad would talk about their respective days each time he came home from work. What I always remembered most was her laugh coming from the kitchen as he told jokes or made goofy comments. He was such a funny man, and she played well as his audience. I hear that laugh now as I type. It's still the most unique laugh I've ever heard. It makes me smile right now even hearing it in my head.

The Dad has had Alzheimer's now for the last five years. He is in the final stages. The mom has slowly watched the man she loves disappear. Every now and then, he reappears sometimes. But most times, he's the victim of the disease. I can't imagine the pain the mom goes through. And though the oldest son moved back in to help them out and keep mom company. I'm sure the loneliness takes it's toll every now and then on the mom, wishing she could talk again coherently to the man that is now trapped inside, with no way of getting out.

The night I was there, with all sitting around the table together at dinner, we were caught up in various conversation topics. The Dad sat at the table as well. He sat there usually staring straight ahead as everyone around talked; his posture slightly slumped over. Every now and then, he would perk up in his chair and contribute something to the conversation. Sometimes it had something to do with what we were talking about if he caught something. Most times though, as expected, he would chime in with something that had no relevance to the conversation. It would have something to do with a long memory from the past. Every time he chimed in though, the mom, without fail, would just turn in his direction, lovingly pay attention to what he was saying, and then respond back in a very loving manner.

He was never ignored.

At one moment in the conversation as the mom was talking to everyone, I looked over to the dad to see him back in his slightly slumped over position in his chair. His hands folded together on the table. And as I looked at his face, I noticed a tiny strand of snot sort of dangling from his nose. I almost motioned to the mom to bring notice to her about it, but I didn't have to.

As she continued to talk, in one fluid motion, she got up from her chair slowly as to not bring too much attention to everybody, walked over to the china bureau where a box of tissue was sitting atop, grabbed a couple of tissues, walked over to her husband, stood behind him, rested her one hand on his shoulder, bent over, lightly wiped the liquid that dangled from his nose..... kissed him on his cheek and whispered I love you.... and then continued on with her conversation as she went to sit back down at the table.

Only seconds after that moment.... I had to get up quietly, leave the table, and walk into the kitchen to cry. I just couldn't hold it in. I was overcome with emotion.

For in that one moment....that one gentle moment, I had witnessed the most loving act I had ever seen a woman do for her man. And I mean, ever. I cry as I type this in remembering it. And as long as I myself CAN remember, it will probably remain so....

Call me selfish for wanting a trophy wife. But a trophy wife to me is the one who is actually brave enough to see me through to the finish line, even when my body and mind finally gives out through no fault of my own.............

Thank you, thank you, very much for your inspiring and encouraging reply. I am crying as I type this reply to your beautiful post, because the patience and love displayed by that wife, is what I have been searching for in my future husband. It takes time and genuine effort to create the bond that, that wife and husband had. So happy that God had given you the opportunity to behold unconditional love, and now you will be able to select a lady that is right for you. That is a blessing. Gone are the days when people take time to court each other or even get to know each other or focus only on that one special person... there is no communication, except an hidden agenda from the first date to climb in bed. By the way so call christian men are as guilty of this behavior as the non-christian men.

Within the last year I have lost interest in dating because I have met so much bad, that it counteract the the good men. It just seems that genuine men were already married or others were too young, and all that remain is a meat-market surplus of the artificial wolf in sheep- clothing men.

Very encouraging post. Blessing in finding your special lady,
