Where's the screwdriver?

Do you tend to like to fix things that need fixing yourself ... or prefer to hire a professional to fix the problem?

For me, of course, being physically-challenged, it depends on the problem, but in my heart I tend to prefer to fix a problem myself ... do you think this is "a guy thing"? I do.

Love,

Steve

I'm a jack of all trades (master of none!) but I prefer to do my own repairs. I even had to learn to be a fairrer (shoe horses) because it has to be done so often. I can repair anything from ez-bake ovens to Hemi's, and what I can't I can usually hold together with Duct tape long enough until I can get somebody else to come out.

back in the day, I used to fix things myself. Now, I either pay to have someone do it or I'll ask a friend to help.

BUT I do have tools =)

I know it's not fair, but I don't like working on the toilet. I have had to in the past. There are lots of things I've had to learn to do because I haven't had the money to hire it done. Honestly, I enjoy fixing things around the house. I get a sense of accomplishment from it. I like woodworking too. I've built shelves and a bookcase but nothing too complicated.

That being said, if I were married, I'd hope my husband would enjoy fixing things himself (or together). I love watching a man that knows what he's doing! :glow:

I try to fix things myself first to save myself some money, especially since you can look up a lot of stuff on the internet, but if that doesn't work, I call a professional!!

I'm a hadyman service and delivery company, but I hate working on problems at the house. I live with my parents, and Dad does most work, and I help him sometimes when he needs it. But on my vehicle...forget it, I have somebody else do it. I'll just mess something up or take way too long, my friend knows a lot more than I do on cars, and he is quick.

I'm with Chevy & GodsGirl both on this one.

I prefer to do it myself.... unless it is: plumbing, electrical, anything on the car........ there are probably other things. I don't mess with that stuff -- it takes someone who knows what they are doing to fix plumbing, etc.

And yes, it is probably more of a guy thing than a girl thing to want to fix it yourself.

Well, I prefer to hire someone to do it. However, each time I get a quote on something, I end up hitting the internet or the library because of sticker shock. I can replace a toilet or a sink, put in ceiling fans and wire a lamp. I cannot put in a breaker box, darn it all. I keep reading about, but just can't quite figure it out. In the past few years, I have also learned to replace windows, replace window panes, put up gutters, and rekey a lock. Cars....nope, no way. I cant afford to mess it up or leave it half done, or even stretch out the time as I figure it out. A handy person around the house would be fabulous. Would love to hand over maintenance.
