The Delicate Dance of Grace......

In dancing there are extremes that will produce a ugly, distasteful experience not only for those dancing, but also for the spectator. One extreme is when both dancers lead. The other extreme is when it is assumed no one leads. Obviously this can be applied to marriage. However I would like to apply it to God and us.

When both lead it is like us being led by the Law and Commandments while God leads by the Holy Spirit. Oneness of purpose and Gracefulness is sacrificed.

When it is assumed no one leads then the Law and Commandments nor the Holy Spirit is followed. Again, Oneness of purpose and Gracefulness is sacrificed.

Close your eyes and *imagine* two dancers arm in arm dancing, moving gracefully as one. Can you see it? The spectator sees no leader, just beauty in motion.....Grace in Motion.

When you close you eyes and see two dancers of beauty and Grace flowing in unison, is that how you see your relationship with God?

Or.....

Is it hurky-jerky, trying to follow the law but always coming up short, then repenting only to do it all over again?

Or....

Is it unconnected freedom without the satisfaction of the freedom that is only found in losing yourself by flowing in unison with One who is truly Free.

If I may be so bold as to exhort, even though I fall short of this Delicate Dance of Grace?

Close your eyes and see the Delicate Dance of Grace, two moving in Unison, Beauty in Motion and say to God : "This is my desire, You will lead and I will follow, May it be Beauty and Grace in Unison and Motion"

Good oost, Two

I agree. For a dance to look effortless, the follower has to match what the leader is doing. That person (the follower) has to pick up on that person's style and steps, no matter what it is, right or wrong. That's the follower's job, so that person has to be in tune and watching closely. They have to be flexible and adaptable. In the case of us following God, we know that His steps are always right anyway. If there is that kind of union it feels like you are literally being carried on the dance floor. *sigh*

Everyone dances; the issue is who leads? The one (or many) leader(s) will take us where we want to go for a time with a percieved short-term satisfaction or the Leader will take us into eternity with all shortcommings filled in and mistakes no longer remembered.

I've danced effortlessly by His lead and the results are beyond a beautiful dance. More like the idea of rainbow intertwining with the mist of life while breath is taken away and time is left behind. Being stuck in this finite body is where the smoothness ends and the sandpaper effect of life's woes and physical limitations sink into one's innermost being and the mind decides...today I will look at what He has done and realize this world and it's effects are only temporary or I will grab my chances and lead to where I won't ever know true happiness...until I've decid humbly to do the dance His Way obtaining full forgivness will I find an intimacy I've never known before and satisfaction this world is incapable of ever giving.

It's when we believe, really believe His truth we are set free to dance His way into true freedom from this world. My dance is single, His dance is plural and fulfilling always, why I choose to do my own dance I can not tell you except I know His dance brings me back into to a true peace within...I choose today to dance with Him. It is an ever daily choice, who will you let lead today?

Margo and Shampooedtwice

Thank you for adding such wonderful insights!...come back with more if you have more!

I was thinking about this today ......

In dancing a good leader has feel, timing and balance. The one who leads 'feels' where the other is and 'times' their lead, so as not to throw the other off 'balance'.......Such is our God who gives us what we need when we need it and never gives us more than we can handle.

sweeet!

I guess you could say that he works with our mistakes to get us across the dance floor...and He knows when to lead us off and "sit one out".
