I know this is random, but I've been thinking. I'm really glad I live in the age of technology. Just 15 years ago I never would have thought a PC would be such a main fixture in my home. Thinking back on all I do here it seems like it's got my whole life stored into one place. I have:

- kept my budget

- found my home

- wrote & submitted resumes

- applied online for work

- keep up with friends on facebook

- found my job

- written all my Bible Studies, stories, poems

- downloaded music

- made CD's

- listened to sermons

- played games

- find directions to everything

- bought / sold on ebay, amazon, craigslist

- watched DVD's

- googled a hundred questions on everything from Bible verses, beauty tips, recipes, how-to's

- brought work home, logged on to VPN to work

- Skyped with relatives long distance

- Practiced Microsoft Office lessons

- do bank transactions

- now CDFF. Maybe I'll meet someone & it'll click. Who knows?

- Not to mention I'm on another 40 hours at work.

I have a friend who is never on her PC and she asked me why I'm on all the time. I don't know how she can't be. What about you guys?

I won't go near PCs. I'm a Mac guy!

I like my computer, and I do a lot of things on it. In fact, tonight I found something like $60,000 in scholarships to apply for. I'll have to work my way through them in the next week or two, but imagine trying to find scholarships before computers?

I see value in not using the computer though. I don't miss it at all when I go backpacking for a week or something.

@tulip In the old days (I cant believe Im saying that) at the better colleges they used to have professionals who would take your information and look for them on your behalf. My first year of college, they found about $6,000 worth in under a week.

I work from home full time on my computer, watch all my TV shows online, track my expenses, I am currently scanning all my old negative film to digital, I do everything on my computer. I can sometimes go an entire week without ever seeing another person.

Lip gloss gets noticed.

Curly hair gets noticed (and some guys have told me I would need to straighten it after marriage).

The absence of ear piercings gets noticed (according to some guys, this also would need to be "remedied").

Wearing all black gets noticed.

Hmmm... What else... I know there is other stuff.

Eye makeup tends NOT to get noticed.

BUT, if I don't wear blush, guys will comment that I look sick or ask me if I have cancer or something. So, ya, blush gets noticed.

As for the original question, I am SO dependent upon my PC!!! I'll be taking all online classes next quarter. I'm also working on some women's websites which I'll be launching (hopefully) early next year. I also use Facebook quite a bit. Those are the main things I use the PC for =)

Hi Margo,

In the last hour, I just became ABD (all but dissertation) on my little laptop. Doing the happy dance :yay:. For 3.5 years I have lived with a computer working on a doctorate online. Now, all that remains is the dissertation.

My laptop is my lifeline to the real world. Through it I connect with friends and family even when sequestered studying. However, maybe that will soon be changing.

Prayers on this dissertation would be greatly appreciated. It is taking on a life of its own...that is totally off the subject, but still, begging for prayers because they are very needed.
