WhaThanksgiving means to all of you my dear International brothers & sisters?Posted : 14 Nov, 2010 02:28 PMThanksgiving is celebrated in the US the 4th Thursday in November. (In Cananda it's celebrated in October) It originated in 1621 beween the Pilgrims and the Indians to celebrate the harvest. Today it's celebrated to give thanks to the Lord for our food, family, and friends. No gifts are exchanged, most families typically gather to enjoy a traditional meal of turkey (or ham), dressing, (or stuffing), giblet gravy, cranberry sauce, potatoes, or what ever is the main local dish. Many folks (myself included) usually gorge themselves into oblivion and settle down to enjoy a football game or two. Then we go back for "seconds" and start again! |
