BUT

I think this Chat/Discussion forum is the perfect starting point on this site to "suss out" potential friends/partners...it's good to read points of views and beliefs/standards of others and getting a broader picture of a person rather than just reading a profile and then sending a hello or wink or whatever..

hope I made sense...: )

Agree :applause:

The problems about profile are:

1. Pics do not represent everything about us

2. Words we put on our profile would represent the real us, or the way we are from our own perspective, or just some things we want to put there to represent ourselves. I believe to put us in a nutshell would need longer words, while when we put too much word in our profile, not so many people would spend an amount of time to read someone's profile.

Hang out in the forum would give more perspectives, broaden our views and encouraging each other =)

If I'm not mistaken, Saved3 and Edw started their love story in the forum :goofball:

I agree. The forums are wonderful places to get to know people, and find out what they believe. They also aren't out to impress ME on the forums, so if I'm impressed, it's because of who they are, not who they pretend to be.

You do get a better view of a persons personality and opinions on the forums. I wished more people on this site would use them.

I think they definitely give you a better picture of who someone is and potentially could build potential for a relationship. Sadly, Sarah Chalke has turned down my numerous letters begging her to join.

Hi Oshen, all :waving:

I got my first computer in 2000 and proceeded to post on forums. Up till 2006 I was *very active* in forum and blog discussions and debates on virtually "everything Christian." I have about 30,000 posts! On one site, it was virtually the same as a chat room (immediate replies, simul-posting)! We would get to 1,000 posts in less than 2 weeks!

Chat rooms are good to get an idea about how someone interacts with others. What folks "believe" can be gone into also. However, the pace can be hectic--and whatever you say gets lost, soon as you log out.

Before I joined any dating sites (almost 2 years ago), I met good Christian women in Bible/theology discussions on blogs and forums. I sent PMs and/or emails to some, and we agreed that if we lived closer, "Okay, cawfee." But just like in online dating, most were far away....

In any event, a forum (like this) has the advantage of your posts being saved (as opposed to a chat room). I'd think you can probably get a better idea as to how folks interact with others on forums/blogs too. Especially when discussing controversial topics, etc., etc.

Just some thoughts, thanks!
