Bible Study (Guys prefered, not required)

Alright guys, I'm trying to get my nose jammed back in the Bible.

What I think would be helpful is to read through about 5 chapters a day and post 2 or 3 quotes that speak to us to the other person. I'm up for more than one person on this because it won't make me go any faster or slower. Right now I want to work on Isaiah.

Anyone want to try this out with me? Message me, respond to this forum post, if my (female) dating restrictions won't let you message me then send a wink (I promise I won't take it the wrong way).

Could work for me. Would you want to start out in Mathew and work from there, just posting each day a couple verses that speak to us?

Ok, so let's start on Monday, the 4th. Start in Mathew 1:1, and we'll read to Mathew 7:1. Just pick 2-4 verses that speak out to you. Anyone else who wants to join in can follow that. Here's the plan.

Monday: Matthew 1:1 - 7:1

Tuesday: Matthew 7:1 - 14:1

Wednesday: Matthew 14:1 - 21:1

Thursday: Matthew 21:1 - 28:20

Friday: Mark 1:1 - 7:1

Sat: None.

Sun: None.

And so on.

I'm not a guy and am busy with other things in my Bible at the moment, but I just wanted to say that I think what you 2 are doing is really great. It's encouraging to see men study the Word together =) I'll be praying that you guys stay on track and are blessed through this.

Hey sorry I couldn't get my verses up yesterday Brandon, looks like you didn't either though. =P

Anyways today's and yesterday's verses are here.

Matthew 4:10 "Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For it is written: 'Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only.' Then the devil left Him, and angels came and attended Him."

Matthew 4:24 "News about Him spread all over Syria(which by the way is the nation that Jonah preached to although he originally did not want to for they conquered his home and did not want to give them the gift of eternal life as God had commanded), and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and He healed them"

I guess I can't really leave out the Beatitudes which are Matthew 5:3-10. More than I care to write though, although the next verse that sticks out for me is,

Matthew 5:11 "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

And as for today's passages.

Matthew 7:15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."

(Remind anyone of Mormons?)

Matthew 8:23 "Then He got into the boat and His disciples followed Him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke Him, saying 'Lord, save us! We're going to drown!' He replied, 'You of little faith, why are you so afraid?' Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm"

(Sounds like Jesus sleeps as deep and soundly as I do. My dad's diesel truck starting up never wakes me even being only 30' away from my bed)

Matthew 9:4 "Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said 'Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say 'Your sins are forgiven', or to say, 'Get up and walk?' But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.' Then he said to the paralytic, 'Get up, take your mat and go home."

(I did not realize that Jesus was a telepath. I mean it should be obvious but you never think about it, you know?)
