ok guys, there was a thread on tattoos and piercings and we know what some of you think about these.

But how do you feel about women who colour their hair, wear make up (not excessive though) or wax their entire bodies?

I mean girls who go to a beautician every now and then, get their nails done and so on, all to a normal extent.

Do you find it appealing? Or unnecessary? Biblical or not?

There's a HUGE difference between a girl who takes care of herself, and one who's stuck on herself. If that's where she gets her confidence, it looks pretty, but you don't really want to touch it. She could be an actress, or a "public figure" that requires a certain amount of grooming. I will say this, if I touch her, and come away a different color, it's a big turnoff. You gently run your fingers thru her hair, and your hand comes out black? Not cool! Hug her with a black or white shirt on and there's make-up or foundation all over it is also not fun. On the same token, I do think that MOST women get a certain amount of confidence from taking care of themselves. Men on the other hand, well, you gotta be happy they're wearing clean clothes:(

If a girl decides she wants to try being a blonde for a summer or something, I don't really have a problem with that. If she's constantly changing it or dyes it unnatural colors, that kind of weirds me out.

Regarding makeup, I support wearing just enough to accent your features. I very much dislike girls plastering their face with it though.

I love the feel of soft, smooth skin on a woman, so waxing appeals to me, but I would never demand my girlfriend or wife do it.

All are ok in my mind... but with everything else, I think it's wrong when in excess. Girls who dye their hair so often it's surprising it doesn't fall out, and those acrylic nails absolutely destroy real nails with prolonged use. I have too agree 100% with tulip, makeup in excess is pretty crazy, it's like a thick lacquer :-P Natural is beautiful, but makeup DOES make a very nice accent for a womans features. I actually prefer a lady who never really wears makeup except for "special occasions", like that really nice dress in the back of the closet. When it gets pulled out it's almost like a smack in the face with stunning. You know what i mean?

I consider waxing like a certain hairstyle, either you do it or don't, its whatever :-P (hairiness does tend to be more of a "male" feature though first glance)

All these are like child's play compared to tattoos and piercings :-P Maybe i'm biased though, I'd pick a nice tattoo on a girl over nice makeup. Piercings can actually compliment features VERY nicely also.

I don't think any of it matters.

I find a certain appeal in a woman who doesn't do any of that. There is just something beautiful about seeing her as God did when he said "It is good." I tend to agree with him. The tattoos and piercings especially alter that in a way that I feel just detracts from what he created her to be. Add that she is happy and confident in her own skin and natural is a good look.

My real point is that if I notice a woman even for her physical beauty, makeup and so forth plays a minuscule, if insignificant role. And if I've known her for any length of time her personality, character, and (hopefully) Godliness are what I'll see when I look at her. That's her "make up" in the sense that it's who she is and it's what I instantly see.

I don't object to makeup and manicures and waxing and the like. It can say that a girl loves herself enough to care for herself and her appearance. It's like a nice outfit in that regard. And yes I'd notice and probably find it attractive if done with taste. But that's because of the message it conveys. It doesn't make her "more beautiful" in a physical sense to me at all. Other physical traits, yes. These, no.

The exception might be dyeing hair. If it really is done out of curiosity or a bit of fun, ok. Most of the time, however, it seems people do it because they don't like what they've got. I don't like that attitude.

One thing I'm sure I really wouldn't like would be not being able to touch my wife/girlfriend because I might mess something up. It would be a huge, huge turnoff....even after the stuff was off...or however that works. It all just comes down to "who do you love more". Yourself and your "image", or your significant other? There are a ton of underlying problems that come with being in a relationship with someones vanity. I just think there's a point where it's obvious that someone loves themselves more than anything else, and it would hurt pretty deep that their lipstick/hair/fingernails win out over me.

Women who color their hair = awesome.

Women who wear makeup = ok as long as it's not goops and goops of the stuff.

Women who wax their entire bodies = ew, yuck, no way!

If I had straight hair, I would put hot pink streaks in it. But I don't think it would look right w/ the curls. And the curls are natural and don't like being straightened. And I look funny w/ straight hair anyways :goofball:

It's interesting to me that you guys aren't more fond of makeup. It's REFRESHING! I got a little sick of makeup when I hit my 30s. I still wear it sometimes, but it's not like this must-do thing before I leave the house. If I'm in a rush, I have have no problem walking out the door w/ a bare face now!

wow guys thanks for all the replies. It seems though like there's as many opinions as men :nahnah:

But at least it is reassuring to know that for some men a naturally looking gal can be as attracive as one who had a total make-over. So now when this guy tells me again that I look equally good with no make up on I am going to believe him :yay:

aww I liked what Koinonia87 said.

I am a girl who believes in being who God made me. He thought I was beautiful so I must be. I'm not one to wear much make up or polish my nails and I've never dyed my hair.

It made me smile to know there are some guys out there who like a girl for who God made her and not for the made up person she tries to be. :)
