So, since I'm on here when I should be doing research, I'll ask you all a question....

I'm working on a project in which proceeds will be donated to 12+ charities. I have a few on my list so far and have been researching some others this evening. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Is there one you think is really top-notch? What do you like about it?

New Hope Outreach Ministries

They have a calling to orphans and widows. I know the couple who are leaders personally, and have been on their trips. I can vouch 100% for their faith and calling, and their very good stewardship of money given them.

Prison Impact Ministries

I know Monty personally and can vouch 100% for his calling to his ministry, his faith, and he and Holly's (his wife) stewardship of every dollar given to them for bringing the Gospel to prisoners.

I give annually to the following charities:

Focus On the Family

Youth For Christ

Prison Fellowship - Angel Tree for prisoner's children

Campus Crusade - Jesus Project - Here's Inner City

My favorite though is Samaritan's Purse. They partner with exisiting ministries all over the world. When they have pre-established relationships, they are better prepared to help in crises like Haiti. They were one of the few ministries that went to Chile's aid after Haiti's earthquake, because everyone else was using their resources in Haiti, but with existing partnerships in Chile, they were able to respond to Haiti and Chilie. Oh, and what's the state that just had the terrible flooding? Samaritan's Purse seemed to be everywhere at once. The supplies were ready and they just kept asking for volunteers. Well, at least I'm impressed. Oh, and maybe you've heard about Operation Christmas shoeboxes, where they give thousand of Christmas presents glorifying Christ to children of their partner's ministries. Amazing!

It is my personal preference to give to charities that are evangelistic.

How exciting! Can you tell us more about your project?

Rose

Rainbows of hope-works with kids that are part of sex tours. The focus is on the east asian area, cambodia, and others. W.E.C. International is a group that gathers missionaries with skills (doctors, pilots) and teaches them the language, and prepares them for the culture shock that they'll come upon when entering a "different world." I don't know if you're stuck on Christian charities, but maybe your local U.S.O.? So many of these kids are coming back missing arms, legs, both, and sometimes more. Granted, it happens in the "line of service" but I don't see politricks (yes, I spelled that right) when I look at a person. Wycliffe Bible translators wants to translate the gospel to every tribe nation and tongue. C.L.C. Christian literature crusade distributes Christian literature. Operation Christmas child sends shoeboxes full of gifts and supplies to needy kids who wouldn't otherwise get a Christmas. If you need more, just let me know!

Thanks for the feedback, everybody. Some of these were already on my list, but you all have given me some new ideas to check into =)

I do prefer to donate to evangelistic organizations, as well. In this case, I'm trying to primarily select humanitarian organizations that benefit women, although I do have a couple on the list that aren't specifically evangelistic, humanitarian, or beneficial to women specifically.

I can share a little bit about the project, though it's I'm sorta keeping it on the down low for another 3 months =)

Basically, I'm starting a family of websites, one of which will be a women's network, another which will be an online publication, and then a few others... 10% of the advertising revenue will be donated (which, at first, won't be anything, since I expect to operate at a loss for a year or so until I build up enough site traffic to be attractive to advertisers). I'll be giving free advertising to the selected charities/organizations and writing special features on them periodically, as well, to hopefully encourage my readers to donate directly!
