The entire time I disagreed with the doctrine/theology of the church and longed for my previous church...the majority of the church was very elitist in their thinking, and not Christ-like at all. So in my experience, before you start to date someone, check out their church and their confession of faith before jumping in. - Rodey Post Reply

Posted : 10 Aug, 2010 09:11 PM My girlfriend is kinda doing this right now...but I believe it was an honest switch-over, because one of the things that attracted her to me at first was my beliefs. So I guess it all depends on the person. If you have a conflict with this persons beliefs, I wouldn't think you should be looking to marry them anyway. Starting a relationship trying to change someone is a sketchy practice, especially when it comes to religion. :peace::peace: Post Reply

Posted : 10 Aug, 2010 09:35 PM In high school I switched youth groups because there were only like 4 people in the one at my church, including me. Part of me did it to hopefully find a girlfriend though, so I guess that counts. I ended up briefly dating a girl I got to know through that youth group, so you could say it worked-ish. Really though, Christ is far more important than some potential relationship. If you are serving where you know God has called you, then stay there until you feel called to go somewhere else. While there are certain churches that are healthier environments for singles than others, we don't have to worry about getting things wrong if we feel called to a particular church. God is sovereign and if he has a spouse for someone, he will bring them together in his timing. Post Reply
