Admin	This may sound REALLY horrible... Posted : 23 Jul, 2010 10:19 PM ...but am I the only guy here that gets has red flags go off when someone from a different country contacts me? It's not that I'm xenophobic or anything; but it's just that I've heard horror stories of scams, money schemes, etc. about dating sites that stem from foreign countries. Besides, everyone gets messaged from someone from another country on this site. I wouldn't really worry about it too much, scams do happen, but you seem intelligent and mindful. Unfortunately, except for one person, all the men who have contacted me have only been interested in how much money I could give them. Especially when we continue and then I find out that they were the former **insert high paying position here** from **insert any country with a dictator here** and that they have **insert some INSANE amount money here** that they need to deposit stateside with my assistance. I always point them to Western Union.... Such scams are a reminder that we need Christ more and more... But on the human side, I do think that it's good humor... Red flags? Man, I hope no one ever thought I was a stalker or a scammer. The fact that I live in Europe does not prevent me from contacting men from the other side of the Atlantic or anywhere else in the world (if in my view there is any chance this person and I would possibly be a good match). I think (or hope) that the conversation was centered around those in a specific part Africa that have begun to specialize in certain high dollar scams. Sadly, as is evidenced by statistics at the US Justice Dept., Nigeria seems to be where most (not all) of the scams originate. Again, I hope that I am broad-minded enough to not lump ALL Nigerians into this category but sadly, since sooooo much of the communication is jaded, it tends to make one leery. Just my opinion! :) And NO offense is meant or intended to ANY person in Africa or any other country! :prayingm: Post Reply
