I have no idea where to post this but of course men and women can post on this issue

What is the most valuable lesson that for instance your mother, father, granddad or grandma taught you (so far)?

or maybe your children taught you something that you will never forget?

or maybe you are one of those blessed persons who had the pleasure of being taught by the Lord Himself?

Please feel free to share your most precious and valuable lesson in life with us.... so we can all learn.

Who is the first?

Yay! I'm the first! When my grandmother (in rebuke) told me I was the kind that had to learn from my own mistakes instead of learning from others, it made determined to prove her wrong. As i got older and got some healing, I read that God gives wisdom to those who ask without measure. It has made me more mature then I would have been and God has seen fit to have me counsel people, some who are older than me. Glory to God! That event with my grandma was life-changing.

Hmm....I don't know. I'm not one of those people that takes other peoples advice very much....it might be a flaw, but it's countered with the lesson I learned from Jesus. Humility and self-sacrifice are the most important things in a Christian's walk. I do listen to advice...but I have to check it out first, lol.

While in Bible College, I saw several classmates watching Jerry Springer and was amazed to see that several of them were the picked leaders of our study groups.

I was furious. I told them all what I thought of their hypocrisy, and continued to rant and rave to my other classmates. Suddenly there was a booming voice in my head. It said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

I was instantly humbled. There is nothing like being chastised by the Lord. I will never forget that. It was not even close to a still, small voice. It was ringing like thunder, and there was no ignoring it.

The Lord has only spoken to me with a voice twice, and both times were to correct me. I don't want there to be a third.

Much love,

Leon

I went to Christian school k-8th grade. Learned real quick that just because it's named "Christian" doesn't always mean much

"Take a breathe and live" My Dad.

Simple advice but the time and place we were both at in our lives, and it being one of the few times I was able to be back at home in Oregon in the mountains we used to love to go to, how he would go there as a young man and still goes as an old one, one of the few times he didn't have to be at work, and probably the first time he got through to me.

At my home we never had hunger and my mom always told me that sufficient food on the table is not so automatic for everybody and everywhere.

Of course we prayed and thanked our Lord at each meal but my mom also thought that I should learn something different.

So at lunch time, where it is the custom in Holland to eat bread (and not a hot meal), the fourth sandwich was eaten with nothing (no butter, no cheese, no peanutbutter or whatever).

It was called a sandwich with contentment.

Holland has always been considered a wealthy country and in my youth, food was as normal as oxigen. But my mom made me aware, in a rather unique way, that contentment is something extremely important, particulary in wealth and health.

I cannot say that I enjoyed that sandwich with contentment much.... but eating it has taught me something that I feel nowadays a lot of young "western" kids miss: the contentment of being satisfied with what one has and not always and ever wanting more and more and still more.

This contentment thing proves time after time to be a invaluable value to me. As in health and wealth and in loving our children, we sometimes might forget to put a limit to their insatisfiable hunger for more, bigger, more often and the latest material things.

Oh, I've had lots. But a big one for me was.... I don't remember how many years it was after I had given my heart to God, but it was probably at least 10. I was talking to God one day about my life -- I don't remember the details -- and He spoke in that small clear voice in my head that He uses sometimes. His words have guided my life since then.

What did He say? Only four words. "Its not about you"

Over the years I've pondered those words and applied them and thought about them. It has actually been very freeing for me to know that it is not about me, that I don't matter. Well, of course I do matter and I know I matter to God, but hopefully you get what I'm sayin'.

You see what I mean!!

Come on people, overcome your shyness....

share with us your personal experience of a wonderful lesson in life.

Or at least read what others have experienced!

I never had the honor of hearing Gods voice in my personal life but I have always believed that He is talking.....

and look at some of the testimonies....

But I would also like to encourage people who had friends or relatives who showed the way, opened eyes or just prevented another nightmare.
