I see a lot of guys on this site say that they are looking for a Proverbs 31 wife. If you really met one how would you respond to her? The Proverbs 31 wife is some kinda lady.

The Proverbs 31 woman is a MARRIED woman. Hopefully single men aren't looking for married women such as this. I think this is an idealistic model to be strived for and that men who are holding out for this idealistic PERFECT woman are going to be single a long time. Some of these descriptions may not even pertain to our lifestyle these days. This model was a woman of wealth and privilege with a household of servants, etc.

I'm not saying that this isn't something to strive for - I believe it is, but men if you are holding out for everything listed here, you may be waiting a long, long time.

I wonder what kind of man would be attractive to a Proverbs 31 woman TODAY? Her husband doesn't sound like your AVERAGE man - he was wealthy, had a lofty position as an elder who sat in the gates (civic ruler or leader).

I think that a woman needs to be MARRIED to demonstrate ALL of these virtues.

Here are some of the virtues and what she may be able to do as a single woman or as a married woman as I see them.

She fears the LORD (both single and married)

That she respects and does good to her husband

all her life (married)

That she brings honour to her husband by her voluntary submission (married)

That she looks personally after her own children (depends if she has any yet)

That she performs home duties ( single or married)

That she provides good food and clothing for her family (married)

That she is a hard worker (single or married)

That she cleverly invests household money (single or married)

That she be softly spoken (single or married)

That she be not decked with vulgar apparel etc.. but adorned instead with good works. (single or married)

That her virtuosity is known far and wide (single or married)

That she is blessed by her family and rewarded praises from her husband (married)

That she is a public example of a godly woman (single or married)

O I thank you can be a Proverbs 31 woman before you get married, I can love a woman as Christ loves thr church, and I learned it in my singleness. We Christians, especially women prepare for carreers and what not, but rarley is anyone prepared for marriage when they are married.

To answer your question, if I met a single Proverbs 31 woman, I would set my sights on her and persue her abandoning all others regardless of my chances.

On a seperate note I dont think s msn csn tell by meeting a woman if she is a Proverbs 31 woman, to love someone is to know them, many women overlook me because they dont know me, and cant see me. I wonder if God conceals such women for those that find favor with Him.

what's cool about proverbs 31 woman is that each chapter (or paragraph) begins with the hebrew alphabet, a woman teaching her youngs son the hebrew alphabet but at the same time teaching him the character qualities to look for in/choosing a wife.

Yes this side of heaven, we're sinners imperfect and the prov 31 women seems the impossible! But God's standards are complete holiness, yes he knows we're not perfect but he is molding us and changing us more into his image. The qualities that the prov 31 women has .... industrious, hardworking, caring, etc etc. are also ones that we/ i should pursue regardless of as a believer who is part of the church the bride of christ.

Great question! A lot of guys do say that they want a Proverbs 31 woman. Yet, I've also heard men say they think a woman is old-fashioned (not in a nice way) when a woman describes herself as being this way.

To you ladies: A really great book on this is "Beautiful in God's Eyes, The Treasures of the Proverbs 31 Woman" and is by Elizabeth George. It devotes a chapter to each verse and does a great job at detailing out some practical ways that a modern woman can be a Proverbs 31 woman.

I don't think I'm looking for a Prov 31 woman. My city has no gates, well at least none that would be still in use as court...

Many of what this woman in Prov 31 is doing is in connection with society and society needs back then. They have since changed. So maybe, yes, if you would translate the whole thing to today, I'd be looking for the Prov 31 woman in a translated sense.

But this would be an ideal that can hardly be reached I guess. Plus, I would feel miserable with a perfect woman as I am shown each day how imperfect I am.

I'd be satisfied with love, which is still a lot (too much) to ask for.

A proverbs 31 woman is a lady who has godly morals. Single or married- she also has respect for life. Kindeness, gentleness, it is alright for her to be a leader. Dennis
