Posted : 30 Mar, 2010 11:14 PM DEar Savedbygrace I guess I want to try and answer your question, but I think that it is a complicated one with a number of answers that ultimately all lead to the same place...sounds confusing doesn't it. In the end the greatest fear amongst men is to be found out...or in other words, to be revealed or discovered as not measuring up, as someone who is really actually inadequate. So they act on dating sites the same as they do in social circumstances... I have it all together and I'm ready for relationship and you might be the right one but I am afraid you will find out who I really am, imperfect, flawed and someone you cannot respect...thus I am ambivalent. Which leads me to act as if:.. I want you, but I want to shove you away as soon as you show genuine interest., but I want you. It is an adolescent response to an adult situation. For many men it simply comes down to a lack of maturity. Because we are older does not mean we have grown emotionally with the years. Many, many men are still stuck in high school emotionally. Relationship is hard, otherwise we would all be in one and having a great old time. I think that each of us single persons have to wade through those that still do not know themselves, while they act as if they do, in order to find those that have matured enough. I wish it was different, but I don't think it is...I am a man and I see it even in married men. In many respects men have both lost, given up, and had taken from them what it is to be a man. God has a model for them, but they are too often not learned, ignorant would be the right word actually, in that model and so they flounder. Have hope...be patient....hang in there....there are good men out there, but it is like mining..one has to dig for them. So set your standards and don't back down (even after you find him!)...discard the flakes, liars, manipulators,players, teenagers in men's bodies or as the Bible puts it "chaff amongst the wheat" and you will stand a very good chance of finding what you are looking for...remember it is not about you...it is their problem not yours...while you are waiting and sifting ...do yourself a favor and read Love and Respect by Emmerichs and also Love and War by the Eldrege's, both are treasure troves of wisdom and guidance about relationship and go to the Newlife website and use their resources on dating. I am sure that this is an incomplete answer and may not be the right one for you, but perhaps it sheds some light on your frustration. Anyway I hope you are rewarded with a relationship that turns out to be way beyond what you expected. man8bible Post Reply

Posted : 31 Mar, 2010 06:08 AM Saved, That was some good advice given to you by Man. He is right about some men. Here is another way to look at it. I would guess that perhaps 6 out of 10 men have not emotionally matured to the point of being able to deal with a relationship. While they want someone in their life...it is often times a "shock" to realize that they may be starting one with this woman that answered their email. And of course (like the Man-child that they are) they do not write and explain themselves. They could also have sent out the same letter (like a form letter) to quite a few women and just had too many responses to be able to handle them all (keep track of them). Whatever the reason...Please do not give up because you are a wonderful person and you would be a Blessing to someone. Posted : 31 Mar, 2010 05:04 PM women do it too. and not just a few. i don't do that, but it just is what it is. it sucks, but it happens. and i'm pretty sure it's all for different reasons. it probably isn't going away anytime soon, so just try to take it in stride and keep your chin up. that's what i do.
