I've written to 9 woman, 8 have not responded.

and I wrote to Cattleman w/response.

I got called on for starting a fake profile message...I did'nt think it would be offensive.

So I'll be more careful on what I post.

I know this is the "ask a guy" section, and I'm no guy, but I'm gonna answer anyway.

I'm here to meet someone, but I also really like for forums. Even if I met someone special, I might stay for the forums and just modify my profile so folks know I'm not looking anymore.

Yup, that's what I did. I suppose there's probably other forums out there that don't include "dating", but I like this one...everybody stays pretty nice. Can't say that for too many forums out there. Some of them are like a mini-apocalypse...wastelands of misconception and hate...not much fun....

Maybe it's because no one wants to leave a bad impression...they're trying to impress the ladies/gentlemen, lol...keepin' it nice...

I am not too thrilled with this sight either. I get a lot of 'viewed" and a few "winks" and "responses" but when i respond, then the communication ends. I have even been so bold to say hello to a few men who have viewed me more than twice, but again, no response. Since all i can offer is my best and that seems to not be enough, i am just hanging out for a while longer (I am the EVER optomist) and then I will move on. I'm not taking it personally. If this is not the avenue to find a mate, so be it. God is in control and I will be okay with that.

Greetings. Randy asked: (QUOTE) "Who is Really here to meet someone & Who is only here for the forums?" (UNQUOTE)

I've joined 3 dating sites this year, my first time ever. I did so in order to hopefully *really meet* someone, online first, then in person. Since joining the first site this Jan, I've written a few ladies, and one in particular. However, meeting in person has not been discussed (primarily due to a lack of a 'romantic' interest coming from the other end, that is, "from them"). I don't necessarily require that any 'romance' be involved in order to meet someone in person. But as things have gone, I have not met anyone from "online" -- with one exception: a lady who cuts hair in my town (I needed a new hairstylist as I recently moved to this town). I met this lady at her church. She is considerably younger than I and no 'romance' was involved. She gave me her card and I'm due for a haircut!

I also joined Christian dating sites for chat. CC (christiancafe) was the first *Christian-owned* site I joined -- and since I live alone, I simply wanted to have someone to talk to when I got off work (brothers or sisters). I'd say I joined CC for "about half" this reason, to chat. I've also found that chatrooms are probably the best way to get to know people online (as you see their interactions/rersponses in 'live time'). Forums are a good way to get to know folks too (I have over 30,000 forum posts on various sites)! I've met ladies discussing the Bible and/or theology on forums that I'm essentially with --- but they all live far away. The forum (here) isn't set up the best. I'm not complaining (as it's free)! However, one doesn't have a user profile, and its pretty tough 'navigating' this forum. The advantage of a forum over chat is that topics can be gone into more in-depth. That is, unless one has LOTS of spare time,

I proposed in the Over 40 chatroom (here) that I could potentially open a Paltalk chatroom for CDFF folks. (Paltalk is like Yahoo Messenger, you have to download it, and can get your own room). Only a couple people were interested. Thus, I probably won't do it. A distinct advantage of Paltalk is that you can actually talk, or just type if you want. Webcams are available, but it's only for paying members (general membership is free).

In any event, I thought to "try" this site and most of my "searches" are for people who live relatively close to me. Btw, I don't limit my interactions online (dating sites or not) to sisters, and have written a few brothers I met in chat also (on Bible and theology topics).

Lastly, *a* if not *the* primary reason I've done 'online dating' is that I'm temproarily somewhat poor and can't afford to 'get out much'. This should change sometime next year, and if so, I will be more active in my (huge) church of 6,000 members. I'm expecting to meet eligible ladies there and have already met a couple in some classes I've taken. However, what with the church being so *large* --- I can't find them now!

Enuf from me, Thanks!

Oooops, (no edit feature here)...one line should have read:

"I've met ladies discussing the Bible and/or theology on forums that I'm essentially *COMPATIBLE*with --- but they all live far away."

Hanna; I was reading in Malachi that its Not God that will provide (a date or mate) That You must search...

I always believed that too, that God would provide.
