Guys, when you are dating a girl how much about her history do you want to hear? If there is something that happened or that they did years ago (in relation to past relationships) that has no effect on your current relationship how much of that do you want/need to know about?

I personally dont want to hear about a girls past that i might date or am dating unless it directly affects our relationship ..i have found out in the past alot of the time when u go to deep into past relatinships either person has been in it causes pain alot of it comes from comparing yourself to the others persons x's and y they act differently with u then someone they dated before u..anyways thats my 2 cents

Neat Question... There may be a time, deep in a relationship, to bring this up. The past that is. But, you need to grow to love each other first, so forgiveness, if needed, will be easy.

Jut remember that when the Lord forgives us, our past is erased from his mind, and He only remembers when we bring it up.

But, if direct questions are asked, then by all means answer if you really want to.

I know this was an "ask a guy" question, but the same goes for girls knowing about a guy's history. I personally want to know if there has been a really serious relationship (meaning, engaged or married). I don't want to know all the gory details, but I do want to know how/why the relationship ended. It might make a difference in the way I approached a relationship with that guy.

I think that we need to be careful about what parts of their "history" will render the relationship void. Ultimately if you are going to spend your life with this person you should know about the mistakes they made.

I will expect future GFs to, at some point, ask the following questions.

- How many past relationships

- Engagements

- Marriages

- The V-Card discussion and any resulting pregnancies/abortions

- Reason for ending relationships

When asked, I will provide honest answers because she/they will be entitled to it. What I don't expect to share are little details that are irrelevant and perhaps even embarrassing.

What isn't okay to do with "history" is use it for ammunition when you are angry. Assuming that we all act like adults most of the time, I'm sure that is not the intention. :-)
