Men help me here. I know times have changed , I was raised in the South. Men opened doors, brought flowers on the 1st date. Paid for meals,worked, and the women (like myself) loved them, respected them, and did the same for them. Im up north now (Wisconsin) and I cain't find that anymore, except in med in their 50's. Men in 30's-40's don't do that anymore. I med a guy and instead of asking me out on a date he said come and see me. Stop by his house. Give me a break!!! Will I every find that man? Help me out men, whats the problem?

not a guy, however, my bff from high school were talking about it and she has a son.. she told me her husband does that sort of stuff...but he never taught his son, now 26 yrs old........... why didn't he teach his son to help a woman (no matter the age) struggling with a heavy load, or helping with a piece of luggage in overhead bin of the airplane? no idea.... i have about 75% no offer of help with many men, in most states, just watching AND I'M SHORT. (i recall ten years ago when i lived in Nebraska, there were alot of gentlemen).

oh, why mom didn't teach? She probably did, but sons "model" after their fathers!

I totally understand the question here. The way I see it is this;

If you just met the the guy he's either just not that into you or he's too into himself.

Then there is the crime I was most guilty of, I just got too comfortable with my ex-partner and didn't think she needed the attention... oops. Lesson learned.

I think to sum up my answer for us guys is _we are not paying attention_. Either out of self obsession, lack of interest, ar any other personal character defects we possess. I wouldn't take it too personal. Us guys can be pretty brain dead. We just aint thinkin' half the time.

I am that way, cause its the way I was brought up and its how I think women should be treated, I was brought up that you treat women with respect. Todays generation and mine just do not get it. I admit when I see a guy treat is GF with disrespect it makes you wnat to go up nd kick him in his butt and say WAKE UP! Its rude.

A proverbs 31 woman is worth far more than rubies. She is worth opening the door and all the rest the comes with it, that we've lumped in with the term chivalry(it is a deviation from its original meaning, but that is our language.). A woman that does those things is certainly deserving of such treatment, but not all women do that. There are some who treat themselves as something cheap, or just look for attention. God gave women quite a power over men and it is used in different ways. Show that you won't settle for something less AND show you are the classy type of woman that is worth it. Too often both sexes forget those go hand in hand.

dear folks, progress ,welcome to the forums..

i got to disagree with ya on this one.. where im from any and every woman is worthy of openin a door for ..

should we really be judgin beforehand which woman is worthy of openin a door for? i say no. treat all women equally when it comes to showin respect..

id open the door for a prostitute as quickly as i would for the little old lady that just came from church..

I'll agree with good 'ole cattle...what better way to melt a heart, grumpy or not than to show some common courtesy and kindness, hmmm? :rolleyes: Shouldn't we as men be treating women respectfully as we would our mothers, sisters or daughters? I've held a door for some who politely will thank me then others who blow by without even acknowledging my presence, I just gotta giggle at that...

Gender equality killed it.
