Question for everyone on this site.....
Posted : 2 Aug, 2009 08:44 AM

This is a question for all Christians on this site.

I was bored and surfing profiles the other night and it shocked me to see some of the pics posted on here. Men with shirts off flexing muscles? Women and men in dark lit room with heads on pillows? (not horrible but very suggestive) Women with major cleavage leaning into the camera? And many many pictures of young girls posing suggestivly with lips puckered and the come hither look?

I am a lady, and I try my best to act like one. I want to attract a man that can respect me with good Christian core values.

If I did all that I would attract a ton of men. It just made me wonder; what exactly are they looking for? Is their self respect/esteem so low they feel the need to lure anything? Or am I just being a prude? Do men (even men of God) like that? Is it ok?

Sorry a lot of questions, but it has got me thinking.

What are your thoughts?

HI LISA

Women and men in dark lit room with heads on pillows?

PLEASE EXPAND ON THE ABOVE, I DID NOT QUITE GET THAT. DID U MEAN, A WOMAN AND MAN LYING TOGETHER ON 1 BED, IN THE DARK, ON PILLOWS AND IN THE SAME PICTURE?

PLEASE ALSO EXPAND ON THE PUCKERED LIPS SUGGESTION.

REGARDING THE OTHER QUESTIONS YOU ASKED WITHIN THE PARAGRAPH THAT STARTED WITH I WAS BORED, I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND YOUR POINT AND WAS RECENTLY ASKING MYSELF THOSE EXACT QUESTIONS.

WHAT SUCH PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR? , SOMEONE WHO PROBABLY WILL IMMEDIATELY FEEL ATTRACTED TO THEIR OUTWARD APPEARANCE. I BELIEVE THAT I CAN SPEAK FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF CDFF MEMBERS IN SAYING THAT THE INWARD BEING OF ANY POTENTIAL SUITOR IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, LOOKS DO PLAY A MAJOR PART IN OUR DESCISION MAKING BUT THE MANNER IN WHICH WE PRESENT OUR LOOKS ARE OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE TOO.

I THINK THAT IT IS GREAT THAT YOU WANT TO ATTRACT A MAN THAT CAN RESPECT U WITH GOOD CHRISTIAN CORE VALUES, PLEASE CONTINUE TO DO SO BECAUSE Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised (PROVERBS 31:30).

REGARDING THEIR SELF ESTEEM/RESPECT, I CAN ONLY COMMENT ON THIS VIA SCRIPTURE. ROMANS 12:1, I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. BASED ON THIS PART OF SCRIPTURE, I THINK THE QUESTION THEY SHOULD ASK THEMSELVES IS, WOULD GOD APPROVE OF THEIR PHOTOGRAPHS?

IN ADDITION, 1 TIMOTHY 2:9, STATES THAT, Likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, I BELIEVE THAT THE SAME LAW IS IMPLIED FOR MEN. AGAIN THE SAME QUESTION NEEDS TO BE ASKED, THE MANNER IN WHICH SUCH PEOPLE APPEAR IN THEIR PHOTOS, IS IT RESPECTABLE, MODEST AND SO ON.

Do men (even men of God) like that? IS IT OK, BASED ON THE ABOVE VERSES, I CAN CONFIRM THAT I PERSONALLY DONT LIKE THAT AND DONT THINK IT IS OK, NEITHER DO I THINK TRUE MEN OF GOD SHOULD, I THINK THAT EVEN CHRISTIANS CAN SHOW A BIT OF SKIN (A LITTLE MODERATE BIT) BUT AS THE WORD SAYS, LET IT BE MODERATE AND RESPECTABLE, IN ADDITION, KNOWING THAT THE FLESH IS WEAK, SUCH PEOPLE NEED TO ASSESS WHETHER THEY MAY BE CAUSING OTHERS TO SIN, DUE TO THEIR FORM OF CLOTHING AND OR NO CLOTHING.

I JUST WANT TO EXPLAIN THAT MY COMMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN POSTED TO JUDGE ANYBODY NEITHER AM I SAYING THAT LISA HAS DONE THIS, AS WRITTEN, I ONLY QUOTE FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND FROM SCRIPTURE. GOD IS THE ULTIMATE JUDGE AND I AM TOTALLY HAPPY ABOUT THAT.

LISA I DONT THINK YOU ARE BEING A PRUDE, I THINK THAT YOU HAVE PRODUCED AN INFLUENTIAL THREAD THAT SHOULD GET THE PEOPLE YOU ARE REFERING TO, TO THINK TWICE.

FATHER LORD, MAY YOUR SPIRIT GUIDE US ALL TO PRESENT OURSELF IN A MODERATE MANNER ALWAYS, IN A MANNER THAT REPRESENTS AND REFLECTS YOU ALWAYS, IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME,AMEN.

:applause:

kristiankidd you have done it again. Thank you; you have great wisdom!

The pillow pictures I was talking about was a 1 person's head on a pillow. With the lighting and the look on the face it is suggestive. They may not have planned it that way, who knows.

Yes I try not to judge as well; but I was feeling like an "old" person after viewing such pics... had to toss out the question.

Your answers followed up by scripture are awesome.. thank you so much.

I'm still learning

lisa,my thinking is this, the day you are saved you dont automatically become like christ!I think You start growing in christ from where you are,If you are truly saved you will show progress, but we do not all start at the same spot,i personally did not have christian parents, was not raised up in a christian home,as a matter of fact I spent a lot of years as a rowdy drunkin bar brawler,Christ has delivered me from this lifestyle, but my point is,I didnt look much like a christian at the beginning of my walk,And to some I probably still dont, but if you knew me before you would be amazed,I think it is like this for a lot of christians, god likes to fix broken people, that being said however, there are probably a lot of unsaved people on here too!Im not sure if guys showing there muscles is nesesarily a sexual thing but more of a macho thing! Some of us men are not too bright when it comes to attracting women!I personally have received pictures of women in sexually suggestive poses,I rule them out right away as perspective mates based on that alone!A good christian with significant growth in christ would not be attracted to this, for it is a signal of either lack of spiritual growth or not being saved at all In Christ Steven

Of course you are right but just because this site says "Christian" doesn't mean that everyone on here is Christian. There's no test to enter.

To many people Christian simply means their parents are Christian and has no further depth than that or that they were baptized in water once and said a couple of prayers.

There are also men that will "cruise" churches and Christian sites in hope for easy mark by pretending to be something they are not. Wolfs in sheep's clothing, as they say. I've even met some of them before and heard their boasting.

The picture on a profile speaks volumes. If it looks fake, inappropriate, etc. that's because your gut is telling you the truth.

So - ALWAYS be sceptical of everyone you see online. It's sad to have to say that but it is wisdom. We are to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

I agree, this is why people do not take Christians seriously. If Jesus really resides and abides in a person, they should know how to dress. That means not suggestively or provocatively!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When will we start acting like him? :prayingf:

i'm with you Lisa, naive on many points, and live in a small world as well... but maybe its a big world that most of us live in and small people who are invading!. Anyway, i once saw a very provacative pose and reported it as inappropriate. My understanding is that is one thing we can do. And think of impact if we all starting doing that.

as for the scammers, i just got my fourth notice of inbox message from someone who was banned in three months. And i don't have that many messages. I've wondered if the paid dating web sites are better and don't have this issue. Of course, i'm not really expecting to find true love via internet messaging. I like meeting and learning about new people. well...most of the time . hee hee

GoldenStarFish -

I have used paid dating sites in the past and - yes - they are also full of spammers and scammers. In fact, they are worse because they do not hold to the same strict standards as a religious-oriented site can.

Unfortunately, dealing with online dating is having to deal with the possiblity of such people but the telltale signs are always the same, as follows:

1). They do not really pay attention to the details of your profile and seem to have not read it

2). They immediately fall in love with you.

3). They right away want to communicate offline and give you their contact details in the first message.

4). Their English is poor and sub-par.

5). They currently live or work overseas.

I have to say that this site does a remarkable job of very quickly eliminating spammers and scammers. I have gotten three of them and they were eliminated within 12 hours. Great job guys!
