I know, when I get a wink, it's probably a fake person. I mean why would somebody send me a wink, especially now when I have no profile picture? haha! If I upload a picture and fill out my profile, I get winks and messages mostly from the Philippines. But here is what I think: If a woman sends a message, that is perfectly fine. And I like that. But a wink usually means she is trying to get attention, and she is trying too hard. I wouldn't recommend that. Post Reply

I'm being somewhat facetious here, but I think sometimes many of us at some point wish we didn't always have to break the silence and come up with a way to start a conversation. I agree with Renov8, though, that it's best when it's a message. There's not really anything to start a conversation with over with a wink. Post Reply

Getting a message from that female friend is also fine, as long as she's not making marriage proposals. Getting a message from a random female stranger asking about topics in my profile -- that's cool. But simple messages like "hi" or "I would like to get to know you" --it sounds like a copy and paste message. But getting a wink from a random female stranger - that's just awkward. Posted : 8 Jun, 2014 08:29 AM Winks are kinda awkward to respond to "Hey, I couldn�t help but notice that you noticed me" haha.. I used to ignore them, but during my short time here a young lady with a light bulb smile sent me a "nervous twitch".. and as the recipient, I decided to send her a written acknowledgment. A message is definitely preferable. Something personalised which shows they actually read the profile and found something to spark their interest, that's the best way for a woman to make her presence felt. Post Reply

Unfortunately, 90% of the time a guy receives a wink or email first....it is from someone out of the country or a scammer. Post Reply
