Guys, can you tell us girls.........

......what's more appealing when writing you that first message, speaking first about our faith or commenting on our common interests or a combination of both?

I ask because some prefer to ease into the topic of faith after discussing common interests and then there's been times when it was difficult to flow into talk about common interests because when speaking first of our faith, the discussions were so intense!

Does it maybe boil down to personal preference?

Somehow I rather doubt a man want's to hear about how his big faith is so attractive as the first thing out of a woman's mouth. Faith waxes and wanes anyway. Talking aggressively about faith right off the bat can make it seem like the woman is simply starved for a man that believes the same way she does so the actual man matters little. Same thing other way around.

And whether it makes any sense or not, when I see a woman basically gushing about how much she loves Jesus and God with no actual information about herself in her bio... it causes all sorts of alarms to go off in my head.

Sidenote: "If you want to know anything about me just ask me" and almost nothing else in the bio is not mysterious, it's incredibly annoying.

I need to know we have some things in common so I know how I can spend time with her. I have some physical limitations and some expectations based on my lifestyle if we don't match up there then we have no reason to discuss anything else.

Faith is a deeply personal matter for me and my testimony is very unique. My relationship with God is also very different than would be experienced by most Christians and is sometimes difficult to discuss with a stranger that I am not sure I can trust with my deepest beliefs or experiences.

Ok my brothers, thanks for your responses! It's obvious that it really does boil down to personal preference and/or lifestyle. For me I will try and be more sensitive and discerning, listening closely to not only what's being said but just as importantly, what's not!

We never do stop learning as we go upon this journey in Christ do we! Stay kept in Him.

Why it's so hard for a Nigerian girl to get replies from Caucasian interests even on a christian dating site? Sounds like prejudice to me and I would appreciate someone explaining otherwise.

Christian or not, every person has his/her own set of physical preferences which always includes a racial scale of sorts (figuratively speaking). As well as this there is the tribal instinct that unfortunately tends to cause inbreeding if too strong.... the less educated the person the stronger this instinct usually is.

Non-physically not everyone is prepared to deal with strong cultural differences in a partner or there is the fact that a lot of the time inter-racial unions cause great family tension. Few people would seriously get involved with someone who almost the whole family would disapprove of, out of common sense if nothing else.

@mildred11DK There are several reasons.

1. Most Caucasian men are in Europe, US, Canada etc. It is not easy to have a long distance relationship.

2. It is very expensive to travel to and from other countries and contrary to popular belief (in other countries) most people in those countries I mentioned are not wealthy.

3. I cant speak for the immigration policies of other countries, but bringing a foreign wife to the US can be very difficult.

@rambo919 Stereotype much? I guess Franklin D Roosevelt and his wife were an oddity? Both were well educated and came from wealth. They were also cousins. H.G. Wells, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein also married their cousins. Lets not forget all the "Royals" who were inbred. Actually, that was the custom among royals and nobility in Europe.

But, thats a typical liberal line of thinking. Only the uneducated marry cousins. A college degree does not mean intelligence or morality.

You also know that you insulted Jacob, grandson of Abraham. Jacob married two of his cousins and was blessed by God.

Hello love

It really depends on the type of guy and how he can be open with you some guys are a bit reserved when they chat because they don't want to show all there character until they are happy with you, others me myself are open and can talk freely on things like religion, like and dislikes, hobbies and faith.

Paul x
