It's the holidays.......

....guys and I was just curious, say you've met someone in the last month or so, like their company and you see great possibilities for a future together.

Do you feel that it would be premature to exchange gifts with one another or would you use the opportunity, if mutual, to show your care/interest for one another in a different way?

I ask because when discussing this with others, I've gotten mix responses depending on the time spent and level of courtship between interested parties.

i am kind of a slow learner, it took me till about the age of 8 to figure out that,Just because You like someone and think they are great, does not mean they feel the same about You.

and,

people that don't like you, will happily receive gifts from You.

blah! i am still as confuzed on this matter as i was then...

if you wanna gift someone out? gift them out!!!

if they refuse to receive ?

be happy You finded out early on :D

Well wykd1.....I would hope that as adult Christians, we've put away childish things(smile)lol!!! I say that because between to consenting adults, there should be a fair amount of reasoning, after spending time with one another, deciding if this is an individual you would want to invest time in and with, that you can mutually agree how you would show each other that sentiment:hearts:!

And if that's by gift giving during the holidays or some other type of outward expression, then hey go for it(smile)! I know I won't be mad at him:ROFL:!!!

Wrong answer...if you don't ask you will not know...of course you could always drag it out until next Christmas...seriously, I have never yet met a guy who was able to read a woman's mind...big concession there by the way...If you do not ask a guy what constitutes the reality of his thinking in regards to relational development, also remembering that the giving of gifts is a love language, the only response you will get is... duuuh...

In the sake of the Holidays I feel this is different (note: just my opinion) Say for Christmas; if you are seeing someone and there is a spark I think it would be wrong not to get them a gift. But I feel you should never expect one in return. If you do expect a gift back you better not get them a gift until you both agree on how to gift give. To me a gift is from the heart and if you are expecting something back you heart was never in it.

A different gift ( or gift for no reason) I believe is a gift of love. Like you find out they like a certain kind of chocolate,as in peanut M&Ms before your date you surprise them with a small over the counter pack of them but have them wrapped in a cute manner. If you are expecting something back...I think you are really sad.

John thank you for your response......and for reminding me and hopefully others about the importance of giving from the heart!

When gift giving, no matter for what reason, your heart should always be in it and expecting a gift in returns, defeats the "gift giving" purpose! Thanks and be blessed.

If I met someone in the last month and I liked her company, I see nothing wrong in exchanging Christmas gifts. Why not?

a 5$ gift card to a fast food place says "I like you" without overdoing it.
