The Apostle Paul.....

My question is directed specifically to the brothers here at CDFF who have never been married, but has desired to be united with their life partner.

If The Lord has personally directed you to live a life of celibacy for ministry as The Apostle Paul had chosen to (1 Corinthians 7:6-8), would you obey that directive from The Lord or is because your desire to marry so strong, (1 Corinthians 7:9) you would follow your hearts desire weighing/justifying your decision on the last scripture given?

Don't forget that whatever God asks of you, He empowers (right word?) you to do. If called to be celibate then it won't be only in human strength, and if called to be married then doubly so!

I honestly don't know. I think I could if it was settled that that's just how it would be. If I had to choose though then I'd go with marrying.

That's why I think Daniel is so impressive. He was a p.o.w. and probably forced to become a eunuch too and yet he was so committed to God.

I think I could, but I'm not much of an evangelist like Paul was, and I don't feel called to travel the world like Paul did, at least not right now.

Not without going certifiable probably, which is why monks prefer to not even think about woman if at all possible. I'm at 28 still a virgin and I can tell you... it's no picnic.

No, it's no picnic at all and I managed until I was 31. Some might call that good going, but the truth is I failed, and worse still, I deliberately went against God when He intervened at the eleventh hour. Whilst there's no doubt He's forgiven me for it, the consequences are still real and present - how I wish I'd chosen differently!

Well my brothers in The Lord, I want to first thank you for your honesty in expressing who you know you are! It's not easy for either gender to make such a commitment!

What I do have to agree with djk255 on is that to live a life of celibacy for The Kingdom, you MUST expect The Lord to equip and enable you to abstain and sustain! Thanks guys!

Good on you I think that's a commendable quality and it takes real character to be able to abstain.
