Hi, was speak with a lady who said that Christians may not take cursing seriously (I hope that no evil come would from our hearts), however she did say they took blaspheming seriously. In short I told her that I do. Simply she shared that she skips blaspheming and uses a the typical curse words. Thoughts?

I sometimes use a couple words found in the bible and one that is not cr,,,,,,,,ap

When it comes to our thoughts toward people if I have a bad attitude even toward those who can not hear me ( drivers) LOL I have to repent right away when I get caught up in the emotion and frustration of idiots on the road.

That is usually my time to use such words and when I injure my self or make a mistake.

I strive for excellence in all I do especially my attitude toward people and I look to my God for leadereship in fulfilling this but still even though I seek excellence I can never achieve perfection till I am perfected.

We have a standard to live up to as children of God but the flesh that remains in us prevents our perfection. Only when we shed off this mortal body and are given our redeemed bodies free from our fleshly lusts can we live perfected lives.

Not till then..........Whoever thinks they can is only fooling their selves.

Well, I think this commandment is a bit misunderstood. Taking the Lord's name in vain is when you call yourself by Christ's name, and associate yourself with him, but you really don't follow him. Basically, don't call yourself a child of God unless you're going to act like one, because it brings a great deal of shame on God's name. As far as "cursing" goes, society has deemed certain words to be worse than others, but I think the major problem for Christians is the reaction and the attitude behind cursing, not the actual words that happen to be considered "bad" in our contemporary culture. You can have the same bad reactions and same bad attitudes by just saying "BEANS" or BROCCOLI". It's usually simply an expression of an uncontrolled response or uncontrolled emotions that you're trying to interject into language. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, so cursing really means to me that I have more work to do in controlling myself, having patience and peace instead of snap-reactions or micro-rages.

i agree with mark. cursing and taking the Lord's name in vain have absolutely nothing in common. even if one doesn't fully understand the meaning of the commandment it is evident because the word Goddamn or any of it's variations didn't appear in a language until the early 14th century.

To my shame, I have not yet mastered the tongue, however I will not in invoke God or Jesus' Name (as an expletive) even when really angry - for some reason I draw a distinction.
