I have a question for the men on here. Would you want a woman that is modest in dress and strives to follow the bible in regards to life style or a fashionable woman who dresses in worldy fashion and tries to keep up with what is stylish and being popular showing her body off to other men instead of saving that for her husband?

Awesome question.

The bible admonishes that women be modest.

( Read 1 Peter 3 : 3 - 5)

That being said, it is okay for a woman to dress beautiful.

a Christian woman can be beautifully dressed and still not expose herself. If a woman is really filled with the Holy Spirit , she will dress moderately and appropriately always.

Remember, everybody that claims to be a Christian do not necessarily have a relationship with The Holy Spirit.

Exposing oneself only reveals the level of carnality in such a person.

God bless you.

thank you for the great response.

I was told by men that inorder to be worth you had to dress in the latest fashions and i do not believe that. I think a woman can be attractive with out hanging everything out for the world to see.

You can be fashionable and still be properly dressed in a way that is non-revealing.

God bless.

Well some women dress frumpy, some dress modestly, some dress sexually, some dress for fashion what I like is the combination of two. Fashion and modestly.

We tend to be just this or that people. Black and white thinkers.

A woman is a glorious vessele indeed and her modesty and clothing should reflect this. The combined beauty of a woman enhanced by the beautiful attire she puts on.

So then where is the modest line? Whos teaching young women about modesty. Modesty starts as a inward self immage.

A young woman who is secure and is loved will less likely live out of modesty and will value her self worth.

As I have said this before it really is us fathers who give our daughters this security through our love and acceptance.

When my daughter was old enough to talk and listen we would talk about modesty and who she is as a young woman. How loved she is without giving her self away visually and physically. We would see other girls and talk about what they are saying to the boys by their dress and does she want to say that too?

I would ask her how she wanted boys to see her. For who she is or for the great and fun girl she is? Of course you know the answer :)

Just because a woman is a Christian, doesn't mean that she can't look nice. There is one gal I know that looks lovely without being sexual.

It is a matter of asking yourself what you would feel comfortable wearing in front of Jesus. If you wouldn't wear the outfit in front of him, then don't wear it in front of other guys.

Modesty is relative. The human body isn't inherently more sexually attractive with or without clothes on. Take away the cultural influences and this would become apparent. In older times in the church, they had no problem with nude statues or paintings, and for some time until private tubs/showers started to come out, men and women bathed together in the Roman Empire in the public bathhouses.

1 Timothy 2:9 wasn't dealing with sexually provocative dress. It was dealing with women spending lavish amounts of money on themselves so that they could look rich. Paul advised them that good deeds (making a difference in the world) was a better beauty.

Today the church is so silent on this issue, to where people tend to act as though the bible speaks nothing about how one should carry themselves as those professing Christ. If God would take the time to inspire these words to be written, surely he intended for us to live by them, and apply them daily in our everday walk.

Jesus clearly taught us that " Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Matt.4:4

In addition, the apostle Paul, ( who was chosen by Jesus himself ), clearly informed us that " All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all

good works. 2 Tim. 3:16-17

Based on these, and many other portions of scripture, we (both men and women) have an obligation to God to uphold the standards taught to us, by those he chose to instruct us. God did not inspire these words, just for us to ignore them, or to live life as though we have some exclusive right to "opt out "

of doing them. This is the mindset of many professing Christ today.

For it is written: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the

renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and

acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12: 1-2

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy

Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your

own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are Gods. ! Cor. 6: 19-20

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Holy modesty is the lifestyle we are called to, because we are a Holy nation, called to serve a Holy God.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 1 Peter 2:9
