When God gives you a gift is it for His pleasure or for yours?

I was thinking the other day, all the things God has given me I try to give it back to Him for His honor and glory. When I get money I ask Him what should I do with it. When I write I give it back to Him and sing the songs I wrote for Hos glory. Any other talents or material things I try to seek how he would have me use it.

Has anyone ever thought about this?

Paul had a go - here's Romans 12:1, followed by 1 Corinthians 6:19-20;

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godthis is your true and proper worship."

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore hono[u]r God with your bodies."

What you said, truworshiper26, is evidence that your heart is in the right place: seeing that we are to glorify God, and take pleasure in him. As for me, I take this one day at a time. Sometimes I have my off days, but that doesn't stop God from being there.

I think about this all the time, and I believe that the verses Bloodnok mentioned sum it up well...that our lives along with every gift we've been given have been created to glorify God, by coming to know Him, and by furthering His Kingdom.

We are to live the life of Christ with all that we are and in all that we do.

God bless
