But hes a pompous, egotistical, obstinate punk ...

... and hes your neighbour. Or that guy in the office or on the bus every day. You know he doesnt know the Lord. Maybe nobody showed him the good news of the gospel, or maybe hes apparently rejected it.

How about it guys... do you witness to him? Do you work on getting through to him?

Do you occasionally pray for him?

What obstacles keep you from being a witness to someone? If they are intimidatingly good looking, or perhaps a little ugly? A lot ugly? If they are grossly over-weight? Or were aggressive? If they have a bigger bank account than you, or way less?

If the Lord gave you express knowledge that this character you have to put up with, or would otherwise be just as glad did not cross your path almost daily, was going to die by Friday afternoon... would you make the effort to tell him about the life preserver you were thrown... salvation in Jesus?

My neighbour of 12 years lived without, and then died without, any dignity on the weekend. She was not old. She was not obviously sick. She was a complainer and consistently miserable. She was dead in her too-hot apartment two days before anyone wondered about her, including her own grown children. The smell alerted neighbours through closed doors and windows. I had talked with her a couple times, years ago. I knew she was a lot of work. If I had known that she was going to meet our maker involuntarily on Friday, would I have done anything differently?

Would you?

Sorry about your Neighbor. That is so Sad.

We as Christians should have No respect of persons. Jesus had not respect of persons, he ministered to everyone about the Lord of his Father, God.

TnB,

When i moved in my house 7 years ago after my divorce as I met every neighbor in my sorrounding area I wrote their names on a 3x5 card. I use this card to pray for them by name.

As I began to meet them i would share small things with them and they quickly rejected the gospel and told me that they didnt want to hear it.

Over the years I have respected that choice of theirs to not approace them and over the years some have approached me.

One neighbor specifically who is like the king pin in our area. Everyone gathers aroung him and he has influence it seems in the lives of our neighbors.

As he began to ask questions I have had oppertunity to gently answer them for him. I found out that he feels like christians are very forceful and even felt threatened once by a guy claiming to be a christian.

My neighbor is a rough and tough guy but really deep down in side he is insecure and always trying to earn peoples acceptance.

Its a blessing to not always have to be a preacher with my neighbor and just be a neighbor.

So are we being neighbors and just showing care and compassion to those around us is the greater question?

Humbily,

Michael
