There was a story of Jack Welch's mother chewing him out for chucking his stick after his high school team lost a hockey game saying "You little punk! You can't learn to win until you learn how to lose!"

For me the jury's still out on in regards to what she said and I was just wondering what other people's take on that was. Do you think it's true?

if a person succeeded at everything they attempted, they would have no appreciation of success,if the had never experienced the agony of defeat?

I heartily agree. I wasn't brought up as a Christian (though I did get bundled off to Sunday school every week to give my parent's a break) so when I accepted Jesus the difference was like night and day to me (very much scales falling from eyes type thing). I've known others who *were* brought up as Christians and have only ever known of God so have no other experiences. For them the secular lifestyle was far more of a temptation than it was to me because I'd been part of that and knew how hollow it was.

I think the craziest thing about it, is it feels like there's a lot of wisedom to it, but I can't explicitly or specifically say how or what.
