GOD THAT IS NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!!!!!!

Have you ever been in a situation where you have prayed for something and when God answers you it's not what or who or how you wanted it to be? Would you still be able to trust God or behave petulantly? "But God says He will give me the desires of my heart, right?"

God will give us the righteous desires of your heart, and our hearts need to be lined up with His. He determines what is righteous right? Why limit what God has for us by what we measure and expect, aren't we then shortchanging ourselves. it's a dating site so look at his one example, you have a type but God brings someone to you that you never would look at twice would you still trust Him to know what He's doing or do you know better based on what you like and don't like? Some food for thought. Chew, swallow, then give your thoughts please. Thanks and Godbless.

I actually did get what i asked for, but i realised later that there were certain things on 'my list' that i left out. I was not very specific with my requirements for a man.

(that is why im single again)

I honestly believe that God can give us exactly what we ask for. He might give us more than we asked for. That is what I experienced.

Sometimes we dont know what we want and God will give us what we need, those r the times we might say that that is not what we asked for.

Lets trust God

I'm not sure where people get the idea that God is some type of genie or fairy godmother just waiting to grant our wishes and bring us bliss and happiness. God is a "man on a mission" and His overriding desire is for the salvation of every man woman and child on this planet, not their happiness or even health.

If that doesn't sound like the God of love you were brought up to believe in then read the story of Job: God allowed Satan to kill Job's children, afflict him with disease and sickness, lose his posessions, etc. Not because Job was unrighteous because he wasn't, but simply to prove a point. Sound cruel? If you look at it as just about Job and his life then undoubtedly yes, but how many people has that story encouraged over the millenia? One man's suffering has brought relief to millions since!

Maybe you've heard of the story of the menfolk who went to preach the gospel to a tribe and they were all slaughtered. Then their wives and children went to preach (fully expecting the same), and the whole tribe were saved.

Jesus said it plainly, if you want to follow Him then you need to take up your cross daily. That means your desires and fantasies take back seat to His will, come what may. Jesus Himself had to pray "yet not my will, but yours" - something some Christians have yet to pray...

Do you remember that old, classic TV series: FATHER KNOWS BEST? That's what our Heavenly Father knows too ... what's BEST for us, so He always tempers what He gives us in according with what He knows is BEST for us, always desiring in His Heart our BEST ... this may not always meet up with our expectations, our feelings or thoughts of what is BEST for us, but we always discover, eventually, God was right in denying us something WE thought would be BEST for us and providing instead what truly was and/or IS BEST for us!!! :yay::applause::hearts:

Love,

Steve

I prayed for someone and God answered with someone really wonderful, the desire of my heart. But then it did not worked out for other reason. Still I trust God made it happen for a reason. I trust in everything will work out together for good. I trust everything that is happening, good and bad, will work out for a future Godly best. Pray some more :prayingf:, pray some more :prayingm: not my best but Gods best to happen to me.

@dkj255

I pray God will exempt me from Job-like experience. I believe just like Jabez, we can pray we be spared from pain.

@BFGTL

Amen!

If we're honest, I think we ALL pray not to have a Job experience! Of course, if God granted all of us that request...

Thank you I had my own experience with this recently and it made me look at myself as all experiences should make us do. And I realized although I was praying that God have His way, when rubber hit the road it was really my will I was secretly hoping He'd adopt. I think many believers go through this at some point. i am grateful I did though and I love when God reveals attitudes like this in me, because it is one more thing I commit to Him and then there's more room for Him.:applause:

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD." Isaiah 55:8

You must have faith that God knows exactly what He is doing. We do not see the big picture like God does. He sees the past, present, and future all at once. He might not always give us what we want, but He will always give us what we need and what is best for us.
