Where should we adopt?Posted : 17 Jan, 2012 06:31 PMIf your intent is saving a life, then the best option would be some poor nation overseas where it is more likely they would die. But for a person to adopt out of this country, they are going to have to be wealthy. |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 17 Jan, 2012 08:26 PMMany people who are not wealthy adopt domestically. |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 17 Jan, 2012 08:28 PMAlso, I would caution you against thinking of adoption as saving a life. Adoption is good, and sorely needed. But adoption is parenting more than charity. If your interest is saving a life, I recommend donating to Compassion or World Vision. If your interest is parenting and building a family, then by all means, pursue adoption. |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 18 Jan, 2012 07:44 AMFor me adoption is a very big thing. It carries huge responsibilities, not only in financial matters but also on how you can fulfill your responsibilities to the child you are going to adopt. When you considering adoption you have to make sure that you are ready enough to be a parent because for me adopting a child is not like a steamed potato that when it's hot you can spit it. So, I think the most helpful thing to do is pray to the Lord and ask guidance. As for where to adopt, for me it doesn't matter where, as long as you can help a child who needs someone who cares. It doesn't matter what country, because all over the world there are lots of children who needs help not just because they are poor but because they need parents who will guide them to be a better individual someday. For in the future, a child whom you've helped would always remember what you did for him and in that way he will also help others in need. |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 18 Jan, 2012 10:35 AMI think that my first post was not clear enough.I am only 19 and would not be allowed to legally adopt a child at this time.My question was where should people in general should adopt.I believe that it doesnt matter where you adopt from as long as God has layed it on your heart, but I have run into people who think that we should adopt from our "OWN" country when in reality it is all God's country. What are your opinons on that?Do you think that people should adopt from the U.S. or Internationally? |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 18 Jan, 2012 08:24 PMNo, I think I misread. I assumed "we" meant you and your family (which implies a husband, which I realize now makes no sense). |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 19 Jan, 2012 02:09 AMAdopting from the USA would be an international adoption for me. Personally I'd rather adopt an older child (8+) so "buying British" as it were would be much less of a culture shock to both of us and they might even speak the language already! |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 19 Jan, 2012 07:59 PM...yeah, adoption isn't about buying kids. That's illegal and wrong. |

Where should we adopt?Posted : 20 Jan, 2012 05:11 AM"buying British" is an expression - you don't pay to adopt over here (that I know of), I was stating the advantage of adopting from your own country. |
