Close ended messages?

Hello,

I was wondering, what would you consider a "closed ended message"?

I think a close ended message is when someone writes a message (PM, email or whatever) and they ask no questions. I am one who is hypersensitive that being said I would never want to crowd anyone's space so when I get a message from a guy and it seems short and to the point with no questions I think it is a closed ended message so I do not respond.

I would love to hear what you all think a closed message is and how you react to it.

God bless you and I pray that you all are having a blessed day. :)

Well, I work in sales so to me a 'close-ended' question is just something that only has a short answer. Something like, "The sky is blue isn't it?"

The only options in this are, Yes; or No. You can agree or not. But it doesn't stimulate conversation, there's no point to continue talking. Ya know?

Open ended questions just for a good example [especially to here, and you in particular] would be something like, "I saw on your profile that you like talking about Christ. What was the coolest person you've ever just 'struck up a conversation with?'"

That question invites you to give me a serious, or funny story about a situation and then the conversation just goes from there. We can talk for hours about just how cool it is to proselytize in the middle of nowhere and just how cool God is and how He works.

I agree with nickel. And remember, maybe they really like you but actually have no idea what to say, they are guys after all, right, lol. So reply to their message with an "open-ended" and see what you get back. You may be suprised. Just make sure it is a common topic. Don't ask him about make-up. : )
