There are some good budget cuts, but many of them, especially the tax increases would do more harm than good. Think about it. If you are rich, what is easier to do? A. Work your butt off so that the government can take more of your money, or B. sit on the money you already have an just enjoy it. Right now there is over 3 TRILLION dollars in money that companies are not willing to spend because they do not like the tax implications for the future. Why risk losing your money for a small reward when you can just sit on it and keep what you have. And as long as companies are not spending the money, people are not getting jobs, and the Government is not getting tax money. All those tax figures assume that those who are wealthy will continue to make money just so that the government can take it. They are not based on reality.

I also noticed that they loved to point out the Clinton era tax rates which are a little higher. Economics can be a little hard to follow because there are a lot of things that influence it. The theory that left wing fanatics love to bring up is that having higher taxes will grow the economy, just as it did during Clinton. What that theory completely ignores is that the internet and Windows 95 had just become popular, and people were making money hand over fist. It was the new technology that created the boom, not the higher taxes. People dont care how much they pay in taxes as long as they are making tons of money. But, right now we are in a recession, and there is no new great technology, so we cant raise tax levels.

The best way to solve the budget problem is to get the economy going. The more money that people are spending, the more tax revenue that the government can get. And the best way to get the economy going is to get the government off the back of the businesses by not taxing them so much. Its all the uncertainty about taxes and the Obama healthcare costs that are scaring the companies.

Stop cutting the defense budget...it's the one thing the government is supposed to provide...for the common defense of the nation.

Cut out paying for people who won't work...make all people receiving welfare work in those jobs that no one else will do...if you don't like that job, learn a new trade to get into a better job. If you can't work due to a specific medical or mental disorder, then the gov't can provide some support.

Eliminate all the paid czar positions...they are not constitutional. Eliminate the massive staffs of Congress and the first lady. They're wasteful.

Stop giving out earned income credit...if you don't pay taxes or qualify based on a lower income to not pay taxes, you aren't entitled to receiving someone else's tax dollars...I know this happens as I have completed tax returns for people who got $2000 - $3000 refunds and didn't pay a dime in taxes. This is redistribution that has been going on for many years.

Reduce or eliminat the NEA, EPA, and Energy department. Reduce the money provided to the United Nations.

That's just for starters.

Personally, I would like to eliminate the entire current tax system and move to a 10-15% flat tax with no deductions. It would eliminate all of the loopholes (not just for the wealthy) and it would shift the burden to everyone equally.

The problem with working on the current budget is that we really need to rework a lot of programs, and that takes time. We can't just go around and just cut a program, we need to rework them as well.

@cobbler:

Christians are not called to be ignorant of the things going on around them.

Most christians have been as they say dumbed down,

they are IGNORANT of the workings of their government to reduce the populations to controlable sizes.

Many in USA have been sold a bill of goods concerning this RAPTURE THEORY.

Too bad the christians are not reading the Word of GOD for themselves.

Do not be ignorant of the times around you.

Shalom
