View Profile History	Status Posted : 23 Jul, 2011 05:26 AM I am divorced. Its' been six years now. The divorce itself was only painful from the point of view that 5,500 dollars was involved. During that drawn out period of my divorce, a little more about that in a few moments, I experienced a great deal of emotional pain, stemming from depression. The divorce took a lot of money and time due to the fact that my ex had a pension fund. During our marriage, her being an unbeliever, well she refused to allow me to save any money, like in a 401K fund. All the money went out to our lifestyle. She saved money, not by choice, but by a required pension fund, TIAA-CREFF. So, the divorce was mutual, I wanted 40% of the pension fund, she agreed and due to the complexity of dividing the pension fund, the divorce took almost a year. Anyway, the pain...I had made a decision to start living my life like I had done back in the 70's, living first for the Lord Jesus Christ. It was a slow process. I self-medicated with marijuana and porn and many, many sexual relations with women. Over time and again a slow process, I kept at myself, began to think about other people...more and more thinking about others. Today I am porn free, haven't gotten myself involved in any unhealthy relationship, stopped smoking marijuana, instead reading my bible, running a fellowship and beginning the dating process. Last night I went out with a Christian singles group without a date without any expectations of finding a date and attended a free concert including Susie McIntyre, the sister of Reba. I had a blast. I am re-reading "Venus and Mars on a date". The book its "body and soul" based, the author, Mr. Gray, is an unbeliever and although he is way, way off on the development of relations with the opposite sex with regard to physical relations during a boy-girl relationship, well he has the concepts of developing relationships between men and women down pat. That is, Mr. Gray clearly points out the differences between men and women, how they think and act differently..the whole ball of wax. Oh, what was the question? bless, michael Post Reply

It's only just the past few years I feel I'm ready to seek a good man to be with (courtship/marriage). I was allowed to date from the time I was 16 years old and at the age of 26...almost 27...God gave me someone who loves me in that special way! We have been together as a couple for a month in two days...Now despite what some may say/think...we have not met in person...she lives in the Philippines, but we chat ALL the time either through Facebook, emails, or the phone...we did our first video chat last night and it was GREAT!! I am hoping to go see her this next year (2012)...praying about how and when God wants me to go....oh and for those of you who may wonder why i'm still on the site...I love the forums!!!! God Bless!! Before that, I'd never even been on a casual date. I've had two different times in the past year when I thought a guy was interested in me. One of them met me once for a double date/blind date, and he even got my number and called me to tell me that he wanted to see me again when he got back in town from his upcoming business trip...but he never called back and never set up anything. Then he IM'd me on Facebook a month later to tell me that he'd been busier than he'd expected, and that it might be another week or so before we could get together again. That was about 8 months ago, and I've not heard from him since. The other guy is a good friend that I'd like to date (and he knows how I feel), but all he does is say that he just isn't sure and that he's trying to sort some things out, while actively dating every other girl who will go out with him. I've accepted the fact that his friendship is probably all I'll ever have. I would like to think that I'll find love someday, but I'm starting to lose hope. Post Reply
