Where do you "draw the line"?

How far are you willing to go for God and others?

I have to think about this one too before sharing if and where I "draw the line".

I'd like to tell ya I'd go all out for God, even to death if needed. But in truth, I don't know as I trust myself that far - my faith and obedience hasn't been stretched to that extent, and to my shame, I'd probably chicken out sooner than I thought, just like Peter...

I agree with DK and onlydatecheerleaders

As a believer we would like to think that when push comes to shove we will stand tall against opposition even if it means surrendering our life. Which is partly pride like Peter had when he was so sure he wouldn't cower and deny Christ. I look at my own life and how often have i followed in Peter's footsteps determined to take a stand share the Gospel only to remain silent and later look back in regret for a missed opportunity. It is humbling how the fear of man can make us back down. I know I haven't been pushed to the point risking my life and I honestly don't know how I would handle that. I do know this that all the strength, courage, and faith we need can be found through prayer and the work of the holy spirit. We look at men throughout the history of the Bible and think wow he was a spiritual super star or super hero and we forget that these people are human just like us, struggled with sin just like us, failed just like us. The good news is the same God that gave them strength, courage and faith to stand up is the same God we serve today. I like the saying Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God. He is more than capable of supplying what we need to endure. We just need to trust him and not put our trust in ourselves.

Actually this reminds me of something I heard on a radio sermon a few weeks ago. The pastor was saying how we are always limiting ourselves when it comes to being tested and one of the things God is trying to do is to pull us out of that kind of thinking so that we are reliant on Him and not ourselves. Saying things like 'Ugh, I can't make it another week' and he responds 'How'd you make it through last week?' or 'I can't go one more day' Him: 'How'd you make it through yesterday?'

I think it's good to remember that.

It is good to remember that we often think "I can handle this" I'll only bother God with the big things that I feel I can't handle. Fact is we couldn't do anything apart from God.

A saying that I've always liked is "Man without God is nothing, God without Man is still God" Trials are good for us because we see how helpless we really are and how dependent we are on God.

Topic reminds me of Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills

where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,

the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip

he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel

will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you

the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,

nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm

he will watch over your life;

8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going

both now and forevermore.

I dont see it as a line. It's about ones own heart and what they truly desire. The things we allow ourselves to be pulled away from his will in, only lead down the wrong paths. What we must do is see how wonderful and good his ways are and how the happiness we truly seek is only found in his ways and following wherever he leads us.

Blessings,

David
