Posted : 19 Jun, 2011 08:04 AM According to scriptures (i.e. Malachi, and Titus etc) part of the purpose of union of marriage is to produce Godly Children, and mothers are charged with the task of making their work at home. Now how that looks in each home is between them and God, and not eveyone is in the position to do that yet, and may take grace and time to get their :). So I stand in agreeance with the word. For those who send their kids to school, there are plenty of part time jobs where the wife can work away from home, if she would like. Also, there are plenty of job opportunities these days where someone can work from home. But I think, as Rabbit said, the PRIORITY should be the home. It doesn�t necessarily have to be one or the other. Post Reply

Posted : 20 Jun, 2011 08:30 AM at my age most already have children that are grown and not at home anymore so if this is the case then it would be up to the wife. If I was with someone and had a child then I would say she should stay home and care for the child at least for the childs younger years Post Reply

Posted : 21 Jun, 2011 05:06 PM Though, essentially, it is up to the couple whether the Mrs. should hold a job or not, I just wanted to throw in a little tidbit for considderation; The woman whom all we ladies are to strive to become like was, indeed herself, a business woman. Yes, I am refering to the Proverbs 31 Woman of Valor. In verse 16 (NKJV) it states, "SHE considers a field and buys it; From HER profits she plants a vineyard." and verse 24 tells us, "She makes linen garments and SELLS them, And supplies sashes for the merchants." and in Verse 18, "She perceives that HER merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night." The three of these verses elude to the fact that the Proverbs 31 does not leave all of the moneymaking up to Mr. Amazing. This woman makes sound business decisions on her own. It says that she plants a garden with HER profits. Not only that, but in verse 11, it tells us that, "The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain." Her husband trusts in her business decisions. Her judgements. He knows that she will not lead their houshold wrong because he knows her true character. This rare gem of a woman holds a job of her own. She doesn't want to see her husband struggling. Thats where we see that in verse 12 that, " She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." She helps where she can but she is humble about it. Yet, even though she has her on career, she still takes care of her household. Verse 27, "She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness" meaning that she manages her household and her time well. What a woman! Post Reply

Posted : 26 Jun, 2011 04:41 AM Stay at home till the kids are about 2, then part-time work, part time stay at home mum :) Once the kids are at school it'd be sweet if she could pick them up though, being a builder you don't get many early days off.
