The Bad News...

Ecclesiastes 7:28 ~ "...I found one upright man among a thousand, but not upright woman among them all."

Verse 26 "I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains....."

Yet there is Hope.....

"....The man who pleases God will escape her,...."

However be warned...

".....but the sinner she will ensnare."

Ya know...there are some days I just wanna slap you! (giggle)

Live happily with the woman you love through all the meaningless days of life that God has given you under the sun. The wife God gives you is your reward for all your earthly toil. Ecc.9:9

The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22

Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Proverbs 5:18

Pro 21:9 Better to sit on a corner of the roof, Than with a woman of contentions and a house of company.

On the other hand:

Son 4:11 Your lips, My spouse, drip like the honeycomb; honey and milk are under your tongue. And the scent of your garments is like the scent of Lebanon.

So it is Scriptural then:

You can't live with them and you can't live without them.

It is better to live in the wilderness than with a contentious and an angry woman. (Proverbs 21:19) _____________________________ As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman with no discretion. (Proverbs 11:22) _____________________________ A virtuous woman is as a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness to his bones. (Proverbs 12:4) ____________________________ I think scripture shows us there are times we should be content to live without them. It's only the virtuous woman whose price is far above rubies. The angry ones are probably a dime a dozen! Love You, Girls!!!!!

so many angry and scorn women in this world...but there are just as many angry and scorn men.

so, we got it bad too guys

in order for us to want to submit to a man, we have to respect him..that includes respecting his relationship with God, with others and me. A man of good character.

VERY HARD TO FIND.

If we dont respect him, we surely cant follow and/or trust his decision making abilities. We will always second guess him. We dont want to be in a relationship like that either. We dont WANT to lead, but so few men have what it takes (obviously) to take that role as leader of his household.

That is funny river, I don't remember Scripture saying it was "conditional". That is a slippery slope that you suggest. Probability the slope that ieads to the cliff called divorce.

Oh, I cry "Foul!" there pard-ner.

I believe our sister River meant before marriage...as in observing how a guy represents himself; starting with his relationship with the Lord. We gals are looking for these qualities in a future husband. We desire to adore, submit, come alongside, encourage, love, honor, cherish, respect...but he must be deserving of this for us to join with him. In my opinion and experience, too many men are reluctant to look ahead to taking a TRUE leadership role in a Christ-centered marriage, but are eager to claim and embrace the benefits of a Christian wife.

If I have misunderstood...well...too bad 'cause this is how I feel! (giggle)

Seriously, though, River if I have misunderstood, you have my apologies for altering your thoughts. This was how I read your posting and what it meant to me.

Ladies, this is no "foul"

Unless you are saying ;

Once you respect a man you will respect him everyday from then on?

However, this is not what I read,

I read:

"If we dont respect him, we surely cant follow and/or trust his decision making abilities. We will always second guess him."

Therefore what God has called a woman to do is dependent on her assessment of her husband at the time. Sure she respected him when they got married but now it is different.

This is the slippery slope I speak of : (To use rivers own words) ~ "We dont want to be in a relationship like that either." ie: divorce

no, the assessment starts while dating or even talking on the phone, getting to know each other.
