When someone gives me their skype or yahoo immedeatly, I think one of two things:1. They want to say or do things that this website wouldn't approve of, which means I probably wouldn't approve. 2.they want to hustle me. Either way, I don't have it from my phone, so its a moot point as to "why". People on this website need to stop and smell the roses. Take your time, no rush.

Not immediately I don't generally give that out unless I've talked to someone some on this site and feel comfortable doing so. Main reason I would share my yahoo is to IM mainly because the IM app on here doesn't work that well and even when it works is kind of annoying to use. But again I don't give it out to just anyone. Skype I don't give out because that's pointless since I'm rarely even on skype. If someone wants that info right away then that is a red flag that the person is either a scammer, too eager, or they are far too trusting. I think some people are more willing to easily give their yahoo or skype out and in some cases even phone numbers and it may be a little naive about giving out personal info online. I think it's wise to get to know someone at least a little either in chat, email or IM on here before exchanging yahoo. General rule of thumb if the person seems pushy from the start be wary.

Usually, no. I wouldn't say it's a good idea, but I know I'd make exceptions.

I agree with the above. People on here can be pretty pushy.

And then again there are some people you feel more at ease talking to, and more comfortable getting to know.

I called a man from here on my cell the day we first spoke, and we spent hours and hours talking about the Lord, and I still remember that conversation, as I was blessed to have it. Example of an exception.

Thank you all for your inputs. I don't give my yahoo messenger or skype either. But i was wondering to some members here why they want it right away and when you refuse, they stop contacting you anymore. i don't like pushy people thats why i placed a note in my profile. Well, with regards to facebook, im selective too unless i have exchange a couple of messages already..
