What are your thoughts on why men (and women) look at pornography?

Back to the issue of why men look at pornography. I'd refer you to Revelations and The great harlot (city) riding a scarlet beast. It says her cup of abominations and fornications (Pornea) make men intoxicated. Men are very susceptible to being drunk on fornication. This is in direct contrast to the Heavenly Jerusalem we seek. It is a matter of what kingdom you are in.

BTW, fighting among yourselves might be intoxicating too. I don't know. But like Porn, self control is a key factor. can you help but try and correct each others thinking?

It's not just men though. The guy from XXXChurch (a Christian organization devoted to combatting pornography and reaching out to the adult entertainment community) has spoken at my church a couple times, and while men are the still the majority, he said he's been watching the numbers climb steadily up to about 30% of porn viewers being women. Those numbers don't even count the number of women who loved Sex and the City when it was on. Continuing to repeat that men are the only ones who are tempted by porn will only discourage women who do struggle with it from seeking help.

It's not that big a deal for a guy to have another guy be his accountability buddy and and get the notifications from his internet filter because unless he's been incredibly sheltered, it's generally accepted in the church that men struggle with lust. But women? As far as pretty much all the women in the church know, they're likely the only ones who have ever struggled with lust in the history of the Church. How hard does that make it for them to seek help?

Thank you, Tulip.

I put my testimony out there as proof that the spirit of lust is no respector of persons. When I testified at church, afterward women came & hugged me, whispered in my ear a thank you and a quick confession of their struggle. They were not ready to deal with it in that type of open way just then, but later one came to me & said she was prompted to get counseling.

Hallelujah!:applause:

I will readily admit that men and women are different. We're still people though, and if we learned to communicate with each other better, I think we'd see that men and women are a whole lot more alike than most people would think.

Yes, Pixy has deactivated her account, and I also suspect it was in response to being told that she was sinning by even bringing up the topic. Way to go, brothers and sisters -- you've driven off another person who was hurting.

Friends, when I wrote that one post of mine I was thinking some thing bad was going to happen here.

Why do you think Paul wrote what he did ??????????

men council men

Women council women

He wrote it to prevent this very thing from happening. You can see my point I hope.I wrote my post for this reason. It was meant to prevent hurt feelings.

Women should not know certain things about guys.

Men should not know certain things about gals.

If a guy has a problem he should write another guy that he feels he can trust.

the same thing with the ladies.

Does scripture not say that we are to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves???????:peace:

If you are a guy you can write me.I have any age listed.

Number one -- yall take this jazz wayyyy too serious.

Numbertwo -- yall know how I feel about people trying to dictate what type of box we have to be in to not step on people's delicate toes around these parts.

I completely agree with 2spar's take on it. All on pages 4-5.

As saddened as I am at Pixy's departure, that was her decision and I understand it. I almost did it as well a few months ago, not because I was offended by what people had to say, but if I can be blunt, people are such babies.

You're on a forum with thousands of different people with different viewpoints, denominations, levels of maturity (spiritual and natural) and the diversity goes on and on. And people get upset because we don't agree on stuff?? Are yall serious?? :toomuch:

Dennis, I don't know why she left exactly, but it wasn't cause we were talking on the subject. She asked the question.

Dear Pixie,

I have read several of the posts and am realizing that I'm probably taking a chance at never having a date on here:rolleyes: by stating my opinion; but, then, I am disabled and live on disability doesn't seem to be working for my anyway,:ROFL:, so, here goes.

I think the personal reasons why ppl watch/read porn differ cuz ppl are different; but, it is my personal belief that the underlying reason is Satan. I know I might get alot of grief for this; but, when I get angry with my daughter; when I smoked; I was giving into Satan. It's simple as that. It's not complicated.

As far as not having issues like this on the public forum(specifically on a Christian site) I have to say, when I first saw this question, I felt the same as Jude; but, then God led me to the post right after Jude's first one that commented that if ppl(including Christians) feel they can not discuss and ask questions about subjects such as porn; alchoholism; etc. then they may not seek help. I mean, we're Christians. Ok I'm gonna put it right out there....I have many relatives who are gay...two are close relatives. If I turned my back on them and did not share God's love with them and answer any questions they may have, what kind of Christian would that make me? I'm afraid, not a good one.

Jude, yes u are entitled to ur opinion; but, so is everyone else, as long as it's not hateful.

I Can say every Guy once in there Life unless there not into Women have Looked at Porn once in there Life. One's that haven't..either are to young to know about it. or don't like Women.. Simple.

I think a Good Amount of Females Look at it too...and if they don't now have looked at it previously.

If either side is not willing to admit it it's because there Embarrassed too.

But if anyone here still has a problem with this such thing i can Recommend a Good site for Both Men & Women for such a Addiction.
