Would you be upset if someone asked if you have any kind record with the police? I am interested because I did date someone who is Christian, gainfully employed, a church attender from in my area when I found out he was incarcerated for domestic abuse and bi-polar after a restraining order was obtained by me when his anger issue became my problem. If I had done a background check I would have never dated him to begin with. Now I do background checks, prayer and confirmation before I date anyone. Do you find this type of cautionary procedure offensive?

ShampooedTwice

Israel doesn't strip search, and they have it worse than us with a better record. They do racial profiling and background checks before you ever get to the airport.

If you think this airport stuff in our country is about safety, you have bought the lie hook, line and sinker. Do you also support the Patriot Act? You praise our Freedom compared to South America, Mexico, or Afghanistan. but fail to see that is where we are headed thanks to thinking like you just posted.

I guess I am mis-informed.

I support the Tea Party.

I also support God's Word.

His Word says to obey authority; those who are in government are there only because they are part of His plan.

Everywhere on this earth...so Afgahnistan is part of His plan, so was the Hitler regime, and the crusades.

What is your actual point?

My actual point is although we are to obey the government, we should not forget, in this country, WE are the goverment.

Actually I disagree that we have the best freedom in the world. I have traveled and lived around the world. I spent two weeks in Vietnam, a former enemy and a communist country. Honestly I felt more free there than I do here in the US. I traveled through Germany, a former Nazi country, I was treated better there by their airport security than I was by the TSA in my own country.

I can understand the discomfort in airport security now, but profiling doesn't work too well when there are American/Caucasian terrorists, and I'm sure we're doing all the profiling/phone tapping/etc also. All radical Muslims don't wear towels on their heads and carry Korans in their chest pockets, so just searching people based on how they look or where they're from isn't very effective. Terrorists are willing to do just about anything to attack "the infidels/America". That includes implanting bombs/materials under their skin/in their body, using children as "mules"...anything. Maybe even kidnapping a good, red-blooded American citizen's family and forcing them to carry a bomb onto the plane under threat of losing their loved ones. Who knows what twisted stuff they're planning, who knows what our intelligence agencies know about and have stopped, and like I said, I don't understand the problem. How is airport security ruining our personal freedom? It's such a tiny thing compared to all the red tape/regulation/restriction that we all live with complacently. And besides, if there is ever a hijacking/bombing of an airplane again, everyone and their 3rd cousin are going to be complaining that the intelligence/security people didn't do enough.

Romans 13:1-6: "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing."

There is also a very big difference between obeying and trusting.

While I have no problem submitting to a background check I do think that maybe some of the comments were correct talk to the person and raise your concerns and see if the person has issues with it.

Whats next asking for references? I guess that the next step in hiring a mate.

What no one addressed was why you keep picking the same type men that you feel you need to investigate and you need to rely on outside sources to see the real character of the men you pick.

Work on your picker, make better picks, then when you want to know about these men they are probably going to be more than willing to tell you what you want and need to know.

Not at all. I have a current State Police criminal background document that I offer to anyone I am going to meet. Plus child abuse history clearance.
