Gentlemen,

A comment was made in another posting concerning how much a gentleman expects to spend on a date. The amount REALLY surprised me. So my question for you is, how much do you (or someone you know) typically budget to spend on a date? Does the amount increase or decrease with age? Does geographic location (within the US) have a significant impact? What are the anomalies to the typical?

This is a curiosity question, not a gotcha question. There is no hidden agenda other than clarification for correcting a possible misconception I have.

I like to do the paying for everything if that's OK with the gal ... its more barefoot romantic to me if I pay, like guys traditionally do, but its nice to "go Dutch" sometimes or be treated by the gal ... and sometimes too, this all depends on how much "disposable cash" you have budgeted for dating that week or month and where you end up going for your date ... simple, inexpensive dates can be just as barefoot romantic as more elaborate and expensive ones if you really love each other!!! :yay::yay::yay::applause::applause::applause:

Its disappointing that cities in the US dont have town squares like Latin American countries. On Fridays and Saturdays they will have artisans selling their wares, musicians playing, the warm glow of lights at night. Its a great place to take a slow walk, do a little shopping, buy a snack to eat, listen to the music while walking arm in arm.

Its been a very long time..

This is what you should do:when it comes to dating, just balance it out-not too cheap, not too expensive. To me,it's not about the money,it about the time you're using with the other person that really matters.TRUE LOVE in dating is the TIME that's SPENT,not the MONEY.Also, you should be only SPENDING your money on only someone who truly LOVES you for who YOU TRULY ARE.Also,Do'nt use money as a WEAPON TO USE people to make them like you. Most people had been "caught up",& end up being used by a selfish person who'll try anything to get what they want-whether it's power (riches) of most of the time sex.

"Courtship is something that seems to be an abandoned topic here strangely. I can't be the only one who finds the word "dating" cheap, much like test-driving a car? "

I think dating is far too casual myself. Test driving a car is about the best description I've heard. I for one don't wanna go into some set up paired social situation just to try someone on for size. I want to feel there is some sort of actual potential there first, for a serious relationship.

Meeting someone through day to day life, without intent of relationship, and getting to know them as a friend first gives that opportunity... unfortunately most of us are here because we haven't just happened upon someone like that. The internet gives a chance to get to know someone without casually dating every potential match as well, though, if both are willing.

Does that mean missing out on fun? I don't think there is anything wrong with hanging out with a friend. The intent and expectations there are entirely different.

(ICA777 - Meant to reply to this sooner, but things get busy and I like to take the time to consider my words, so I wanted to find my way back here... you mentioned some other interesting things I'd respond to as well, but it seems I won't get that chance  )
