Am I the only one who gets sad when they watch Christmas movies?

As Christmas draws nearer, it seems everybody wants to watch Christmas movies or Christmas specials. Supposedly they're all cheery and make everybody feel warm and fuzzy inside, but really they just make me sad.

Christmas should be a wonderful time to celebrate the arrival of our mighty, powerful, glorious, and radiant King to vanquish Death and deliver us from its grip, the Christ we see in Revelation, but too often it is reduced to a holiday merely about loving each other, family, and all our problems being fixed by THINGS. I watch these movies, and while they aren't really full of anything blatantly bad, not only are the movies completely missing the point, but so many of the people watching them are too.

As Christmas gets closer and closer, all this "Christmas spirit" makes me want to grab people and shake them until they realize what they're missing. Sadly, I can't figure out how to effectively communicate that to my friends, much less everybody else. Trying to is just a quick way to get called a Grinch.

It's ok though. At least this Grinch has Jesus.

Tulip, it is not that I don't want to, it is a matter of getting up the will to pack everything and move. I have been through Texas many times, so I have a feel for the place. There are two home offices in Texas though, Houston and Dallas.

Godslamb, I know it is hard to believe, but everytime I offer my help I am always put somewhere where I end up alone. I wouldn't mind that so much if I got to come out and play every once in a while, but everyone is too busy for that.

Really, we can give all the advice in the world, but the best council you'll get is through prayer. If God puts it on your heart to stay, stay. If God puts it on your heart to go somewhere else, go.

Well, for right now its fairly clear that I cant go anywhere. I have a problem with my eyes that requires me to wear special contacts. Right now they are still in the experimental stage, so I basically have to stick with my current optometrist. We are working together with the manufacturer to get the design down. Even if my next contact was the one that worked, I would still need to hang around for the next 6 months to verify that it is a good fit.

And before anyone asks, no I cant just wear glasses. Just take my word on it, I am right.

I guess for now I am just stuck up here in New England with no friends (ok, I have one group of friends I get to see once every two weeks, but that is it), a family that takes me for granted and, and a church that I barely know anybody in.

God often calls us to places we don't want to be. I have a large group of friends in Athens, and another large group of friends in Dahlonega, as well as an amazing church to attend in both cities. Where does God have me right now? In Atlanta, where I rarely hang out with anyone other than my roommate, who incidentally is going to be married soon and won't be able to live with me anymore. I'm in a college I don't particularly like, getting a degree I doubt I'll use.

God's got us where he's got us for a reason though. He's used the last several years to continue to show me to depend on Him instead of others. I strongly encourage you, if you aren't already, to lay your concerns before the Lord continually, but also pray that your time in this dry and weary land would be profitable spiritually.

And God also puts people in our paths that need help, people that need to be reached out to. I asked for help, but all I get is a lecture on how selfish I am.

I know that no one here can help, I just get sick and tired of always being told that I am the one who is wrong.
