How many years is too much? Is it a recipe for disaster? Not sure how I feel about it and would like to hear from the guys.

Thanks!

I've always heard the "formula" half your age plus seven.

Though the older one gets, the less 'accurate' that would be.

And by 'accurate' I of course meant 'appropriate'. Duh. Tired? Me? Huh?

@ Wednez~~ most people are pretty comfortable with the older man/younger woman format, but I'd love to hear your take on the the opposite...older woman/younger man.

My personal thoughts on it are that it's usually in the best interests of both parties to stay fairly close to their age. But when people become attached to each other...what then?

I meant that the 'formula' could apply either way. Though truth be told, he'd have to be a remarkable twenty-six-year-old for me to get over initial hesitation.

When I talk with friends about what I consider my "age range" for men, I usually say from thirty to fifty, within a couple years, but I prefer closer to thirty-five for the lower end. In some part because I have two boys, one an adolescent, and a man in my life needs to be 'old' enough (read that to mean mature if you like) to be respected by them - and to handle them.

Wednez~~ That makes a lot of sense, especially considering your boys. Thanks a bunch for answering!

I'm now 54 and have been contacted by someone 46. He has said that he's attracted to older women. We are just communicating by email at this point, but I find myself unsure as to whether this is a good position to put myself in. I guess I just need to keep praying and seeking God's guidance. Only he can really lead me on this. Just having a lot of questions about what's appropriate.

Thanks again for the remarks!

If you like him, you like him, right? Sure 10 years is a big difference when you're 25, but as you get older, the difference becomes less and less important.

I'd say +/- 5 years or so. I feel it's a bad idea to date someone significantly younger or older.

@LavButterfly - 8 years is nothing at your current age.

Tulips89~~Guess I'll know more about it if we meet. At this point I'm unsure about what either of us is thinking. And I think you're right...as I get older the age doesn't seem as significant. But I guess I'm wondering if 10 or 15 more years will make him feel different.

Rainbow~~Thanks so much for replying!

Firehawk~~Yes, at my current age I guess it's not really a big deal...still wondering about several years down the road. Thanks for the input!!!
