Cobbler,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic, its refreshing to

read moral ethics are alive and well.

@ --> Donthitthatmark & edw,

Great thoughtful insight, however, I think the topic is, "Christian guys looking for

women their daughters age... I don't think so."

I get what your saying about how parents raise their children... But after the age of

18 these young adults can and do make their own judgement calls on what's

right and wrong (and some make much better choices in life than their parents

example.)

edw... although it may be flattering to be flirted with by these young girls, as

flirtatious banter goes back and forth, I'm glad you have not acted on it.

But, again, the topic I believe is... "Christian guys looking for women their

daughters age, I don't think so."

Anyway, in a round about backwoods way, the point I was trying to make, while some guys may be drawn to younger ladies, not all of us are.

Personally, I find it disgusting to see guys my age with much younger ladies hanging on their arm.

i can learn more,i can follow him, i can practice to submit despite of having a strong personality.

I understand the initial appeal of a significantly older man, but in the long term it really makes no sense to me. Is it really worth the risk of autism, schitzophrenia, and bipolar disorder in your children? Is it worth him being an old man while the youngest is in high school who can't get up to cheer at his soccer games? And when you finally have an empty nest, you won't be able to do a whole lot since you'll have to be his caregiver.

Ouch. But that's pretty much the truth logically. I think again it depends on God's plans. Like Abraham, climb that high mountain to deliver Isaac to the top but hey God strengthened him, God made impossible into very possible.

well probably has to do with culturally, I'm guessing sweetshatz has seen such relationships with big age gaps and they work out great.

@ saved; show me in the bible where there needs to be a certain age a man and a woman needs to be when they get married, or any biblical basis for your point of view. And if I'm hearing you correctly, a man who is 50 that goes for a woman of 30 has the makings of the pedofile, think again.

It may not be wise but it depends on the the couple. Usually the biggest problem in relationships like that is the flak they recieve form other people. As I see it, it violates social norms, and since when did scocial norms trump what God permits or disallows?

I will go for women who are 15 years younger than me, if someone doesn't like it than they can get glad in the same pants they got mad in. :boxing: But ill be damned if I get labled a pedofile or creeper because of it!!!!

My counselor told me that there is an accepted "rule of thumb" that 12 years is considered a generation so dating someone who is more than 11 years younger or older than you is an indication of possible "issues". That is not a mandate, but a warning sign and something to consider.

Many cultures have been known to do unhealthy things including child sacrifice. So, just because something is acceptable in one culture doesn't make it a healthy practice.

This rule of thumb applies to both genders. Another thing to keep in mind is that reproductive organs of both genders start functioning around 12 or 13. So the fact that you don't specifically have children 15 years younger than you, is not the issue. The fact that you physically could have fathered/mothered that child is the issue. Many girls do marry older men looking for a father figure. That doesn't resolve the issue, it just makes for an unhealthy marriage.

So ladies and gentlemen, why don't we be a little more respectful with some of our posts. K?

Rose

P.S. My daughter's father was 10 yrs. older than I. A 10 year spread is not uncommon. Let's just strive to be healthy in our relationships and glorify God.

Young is the Holy Grail in our culture. IT is the package that matters. Given the fact that most men aren't even their own age, emotionally speaking, little wonder they would seek their own level or even younger; gives them a sense of having the upper hand. They achieve a warped sense of value if they capture the affection of someone considerably younger. It is a sad reflection on the those men in the church and their growth towards christian maturity. Besides, when they run into a real woman their age it is intimidating because those same women have set aside childish things and he hasn't. He finds himself caught in the light of day worshiping what the world has for him more than the blessing the Lord has prepared.Blinded by something shiny they miss the treasure that is beyond price in the women who are their own age and who have matured in the Lord.

And where are the age limits at? Are they in Leviticus, or perhaps Numbers, somehow I missed that as I read the bible. Maybe its in Proverbs where all the Wisdom of Solomon is found...no not there either. hmm... maybe its one of the ten commandments "thou shalt only marry within a ten year range of yourself. No, where than is this God ordained level that men are supposed to stay at in the bible?

And, sir I do believe there are too many confounding variables to make such a narrow condemnation of a man's character. Its also a rash assumption to think that a woman's chronological age is the same as her "age" in Christ.

Whats worse is peoples behavior to deviant behavior. At worse it is foolish, but there is more hope for a fool, than haughty people.
