I am addressing us men specifically. I just had a revelation about how we are responsible for the state of relationships and the level of divorce in the church.
You who is reading this. What are you going to do?
I would ask you to stop what you are doing right now in persuing any relationship and become not just familiar but intimatly aquainted with all scripture pertaining Divorce and remarriage.
Stop what your doing and learn what Jesus says and why. learn what Paul writes and why.
We men need to turn this around and it starts here at the front line of the battle. The enemy has waged war against the family and who will stand with me?
"Can we fully understand the hard saying that MsMarvel has submitted without looking at scripture as a whole?"
This is NOT a hard saying. It's not a paradox or a deep mystery. It's plain and simple straightforward language.
I posted this on a different website in relation to this very same issue. Nobody has refuted it with scripture yet.
" Contrary to modern opinion, the word of God is clear on this issue. I know of no verses supporting women teaching men in churches.
1 Tim 2:
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
They are not permitted to teach
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
1 Timothy 3 - Notice - if a man be a bishop, etc. Not if anyone wants to be.
1 THIS is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
5 For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?
I enjoyed reading your responses there is much truth in them.
The Bible teaches a man is Head and women should not have authority over a Man. I would not want to be a member of a church where the Pastor is a Woman. lol Women are called to ministry and there are several ministries other than being a PASTOR.
If your quote is accurate, simple and straight forward as you say, then women should be silent and not be permitted to post.
Logic dictates that if this scripture is true exactly how you have interpreted it then all women giving an opinion, insight, concern, question or quoting a scripture on this website are sinning against God Himself, because this is the body of Christ, there are males present and there is teaching here. All women must stop immediately!
My guess is that the next step is for the men to inform CDFF to make a correction to their database to be more in line with scripture and remove the posting option for all females. As God's leaders you will surely protect your sisters in the faith from being otherwise decieved, as Eve was, and do what is necessary to protect us from sinning.
No Godly woman wants to knowingly sin against her precious Lord!
I believe this is generally the accepted way of translating "church".
Now, if you want to argue that these forums are a virtual assembly of believers, I wouldn't argue against that. Therefore, I would conclude with you that women ought not to teach men on biblical matters here on the forums. Men would also be ill advised to seek such teaching from women.
However, I think we also need to use some discernment with respect to this whole topic. Is the purpose of this website to provide a platform for believers to gather with the purpose of teaching/being taught? No, it's a dating site. The forums are a secondary offering.
Having said that, very little of what goes on in these forums can be classified as "teaching" anyway, in my opinion. I certainly do not see many folks attempting to exegete Scripture here.
My Dad who comes from the woman should't wear pants thinking has even gotten revelation on this.
God has given me ability to act, driect and write plays.. but by what you're saying , my involvment in drama minstry which is to say, my involvement of ministering instructing, worship, and TEACHING in church shouldbn't be allowed beause I'm a woman. Why did God give me thses gifts then? Why does the Holy Spirit take over and no matter how many times I read something I've written I'm in awe (Of Him). If I'm doing the wrong thing, why is He helping me, giving me understanding. Why has God taken the once very shy, insecure woman and make her feel at home on a stage?
Have you checked out other translations of the text?
Have you looked up why Paul gave this instruction?
What was going on at the time? Why did Paul feel it neccessary to inform the chuch that women should be 'silent'? Especially after knowing full well that God used Deborah as a prophet. Certianly Paul of all people knew that right? Bod doens't change. I'm not arguing, if that is what you believe that is fine, I'm not going to stop God from what He's doing my life though, not from one translation of Greek.
" don't let women take over and tell the men what to do. They should study to be quiet and obedient along with everyone else. Adam was made first, then Eve; woman was deceived firstour pioneer in sin!with Adam right on her heels. On the other hand, her childbearing brought about salvation, reversing Eve. But this salvation only comes to those who continue in faith"
that's an amplified trans, not saying its perfect, just saying, it's a translation. We're told to "Study" the word and for the record I count on the Holy Spirit to reveal the word to me, and He does, and when He does I am most certaiinly not quiet about it.
