to guys from a guy - how do you handle The Question .. "Does This Make Me Look Fat" ...?

Watching the Geico commercial with Abe Lincoln being asked that question by his wife is a scream, but it highlights one of the most trying moments in a relationship that a man can be asked by a woman .. and one of the most telling, I think ..

I have my own experiences in marriage I can discuss, but have you ever been zinged by a girl dating you on this? I surely hope not, but one thing is certain, the marital/dating status makes a big difference.

Want some O's, guys.

And gals, can you explain why you might put a man on the spot with something like this?

I'm not bitter toward her, Chevy. I don't know if you're divorced or not because of infidelity kept very deliberately hidden from you, but if you are perhaps you can understand that I'm still angry over that part. Does being outraged make you bitter? There's a distinction there you are missing.

I called HIM a sleaze because that's exactly who I perceive him to be. He cooperated with encouraging in her the dissolution of my marriage with her. That's low and wrong. I was faithful and she was not, and she didn't have the spine to say so until I found out "accidentally" thanks to the USPS that she'd remarried in November. For months she was deceptive, dishonest and dissembling while I entreated and begged while they planned their little Season even as we went to counseling.

I'm angry over it .. but bitter? Hardly. Call it what you want. I really don't care. God knows where I stand better than you or anyone else, I think.

Borrowing a line from my father, who has been happily married now to my mom for 51 years, "if a woman wants a man's opinion, they'll give it to them."

While I've never been married, I've learned that usually in most cases he was right. No matter how many times they tell you (and they all do) they want the brutal truth, they really don't; just a little affirmation.

The answer is "Yes!, That garment of clothing makes you completely blimp up like Tommy Boy!!" Even if it's true or not. Now you have to couple this with another practice: the practice of complimenting her before she has the chance to ask you the fated question.

The reason why you do this is merely for training purposes. You have to train them to let you compliment them out of your own free will... which you have proven that you want to do over and over again.

Thinking about it again this also depends on the the girl who asks and if she really wants the truth (be it good or bad) or she is attempting reverse training and is conditioning you to answer in a certain way no matter what.

Nice hat, Dave---- but it makes your head look a little big. Do you train dogs too? I got one that won't listen!

LOL!!!

I understand where you're coming from chevy and I probably should have prefaced my comment a little bit better! I have personally been around several unrelated groups of Christian women and heard about them openly talking about "training" their men. And even further commenting that if they are having issues, it's because their men "aren't trained."

Maybe, for some reason, that's only a regional thing and thus doesn't happen all over america like it happens here; but I'm willing to bet that it's a fall of man kind of issue. Read about it in Genesis.

Also, I think it's worth noting that I understand quite a bit about feminist philosophy and in a very large part I am a feminist. And when I hear about Christian men using the Bible to control, subdue, conquer and otherwise dominate the women in their lives, be it wives, fiancees or girlfriends, I go absolutely nuts and confront them to their face about it.

I'm sorry if I sounded the slightest bit chauvinistic. That really wasn't my intent.

Also, when I do comment about the blimp and Tommy Boy it's so fully dripping with sarcasm that she absolutely knows, not thinks; but knows, that I'm not at all being serious about it. It isn't said to hurt her at all.

There's a way to say something to make it not mean what you're saying but actually quite the opposite. Yeah. That's sarcasm.

Does that make sense?

Training Men...lol! Yes, it is a regional phenomenon, the earth region! However, women come by it honestly, it is spoken of in Genesis as part of a curse. Such a shame so few Christian Women ever get delivered from it. It is good to bring this up; in knowing how some women operate can definitely be used for the best interests of all. I have seen many a animal train their master.

But I wouldn't say that men are the master's of women either. Scripture clearly says that men are to love their wives as Christ loves the church.

A whole lot of responsibility falls on men to treat women very well.

Don't get skeered Dave, it was only a analogy. Although I must admit a analogy taken to far reveals much about the person taking it.
