... prefers my hair to be really long, should I keep it that way?

Right now it is about 3" above my waist and I'm thinking of cutting maybe about 6-7" off. I would never again cut it above my shoulders because then people tell me I look like Shirley Temple. And while I love Shirley Temple and, in fact, still watch "The Little Princess" every once in awhile, I don't really want my hair to resemble that of a child's. I want my hair to be sexy, not cute, if you know what I mean.

Also, I go back to school in 2 weeks and don't want my hair to look bad the 1st day. So, even though I'm really eager to chop off some swirly curls today (I cut my own hair!), I should probably wait until a week or so into school... just in case. Not that my hair looks bad when I cut it. I only messed up 1 time and that was years ago when I was still getting the hang out of. Now, I do a good job and people always want the name of my stylist =)

Chop-chop swirly curls in 3 weeks maybe? Or should I keep it growing because of my boyfriend's preference?

Well as a lifelong romantic and admirer of long hair on women, I can say this -- not only does long hair appear more feminine, and not only does it frame a woman's face, but it contributes an air of mystery. I also enjoy running my fingers through it and my experience is that women enjoy that as well. It is an act of affection, perhaps even sensual affection, that communicates love in a way like no other.

I do think I would enjoy having my hair stroked, although I have never experienced that before.

Okay, so HAIR UPDATE!!!

I chopped it off a few hours ago. I trimmed 4-1/2 inches off the length, re-layered it, and re-cut some sideswept bangs. We'll see how it looks when it drys; right now it's up in a wet topknot. I usually end up tweaking the layers the next day after I cut it. So, it just reaches to my underarms now, though since it will probably curl up a little more now, it may look shorter than that. And my boyfriend says he is okay w/ this =)

This length will be so much better. It was getting so long that it was heavy and did not want to stay up in a topknot or ponytail very well. This way, I'll be able to toss it up quickly when I *rush* to school in the morning and it will stay up when I'm up all night studying. It will also look better w/ hoodies and it's that time of year when I pretty much live in hoodies.
