WANTED: A PROV 31 WOMAN
Posted : 30 Mar, 2010 03:04 PM

Hi Guys

Why do so many of you want a proverbs 31 woman?

I am asking this because I am very happy not to be one.

The woman described in Prov 31, strikes me as a very succesful housewife and excellent mother whose organization talents, diplomacy, intelligence and all other wonderful gifts are only of use for a profitable life, where she contributes to her husbands reputation and also is very active in charity as well.

Excuse me for asking but where does it say that she seeks to do Gods will?

Just asking....:excited::excited::excited::excited:

1babygirl. Got that! Thanks.

Well highly esteemed ladies and highly attractive gentlemen,

It looks like we come to the end of this thread as Sir Rabbit 32 had managed to open my eyes.

I would like to thank you all for your input and wish you luck and blessing in finding your Prov31 lady.

I am informed that there has been started a new thread on this issue by just4him1967, so we can continue sharing ideas there.

P.S. and off the record:

For what it is worth, I am still glad not to be a Prov31 woman.

(and probably so are you...)

King Lemuels mother advises her son to look for a perfect woman, rather than a humble one, whose trust and faith is in the Lord.

The kings mother does not look for saturation in Christ but is telling her son what a good woman must achieve and shoud accomplish.

However, for God our deeds and achievements are insignificant. No matter what level of excellence we achieve. We walk by faith and fully depend on grace and mercy.

The detailed and extensive description of excellence and perfection is a very alarming sign to me that this wonderful woman will be loved by her husband and highly looked upon by society but is not a godly woman.

Had Lemuels mother desired a godly woman for her son, she would have mentioned qualities as referred to in the by Sir Rabbit 32 quoted parts of the bible, in the same detailed way, she is describing the desired achievements of her future daughter in law.

So far for my personal opinion. As I said,

By the way, does anyone know if king Lemuel succeeded in finding his dream queen?

Thank you for your time in reading the above. Hope to meet you on the new thread on this issue which started today.

You look at Proverbs 31 as the "basic woman." Christians as a whole are not "basic" people. And I know many, many women who are nothing like the Proverbs 31 woman. I believe God wants us to strive to be like her. Caring, tenderhearted, hard working, etc. These are all positive qualities. If I were to get married again I would hope I posses these qualities and want to do good by my family. It amazes me that some of the females here act offended that a man wants a Proverbs 31 woman. I'm waiting for the posts from the men saying they are offended that we want someone who works. :) (not trying to offend... do u see my point?)

Good morning simply nia

Thank you so much for your post.

I agree with you that a lot of women are not a proverb31 woman. But does that make them unfit for marriage and does that make them ungodly?

I also can see your point that women strive to be a proverb31 women. I myself, but that is my personal way to look at it, do not feel that I have to. To me all these qualities stated in prov31 are very basic. I know a lot of non christian women who easily comply with the qualities as stated in proverb 31.

The qualities as stated in prov31 start to have a function to me, when they are tied to other parts of the bible. Sir Rabbit 32 was kind enough to point some of them out to me. And yes, if the prov31 qualities are put together with those verses, we are really talking about a godly women.

But once again, this is my personal point of view.

I wish all women and men who have the proverb 31 as a reference, much luck in finding eachother.

By the way, you have a very pleasant way of pointing out your ideas and beliefs (also on other threads). I was honoured with the time you took to share your point of view.

Thanks once again.
