I find that even Christians are not truthful when it comes to showing others their real identity.

Profile Photo vs Now Photo

How many people actually have a current (within 1 yr old) photo?

There should be a recent photo. But sometimes people get ridiculous. I would rather see a photo of the "REAL person," with open eyes, no sunglasses, than a collection of 15 glamor poses that are all back-lit with professional make-up, hair all blowing in the wind.

I need to see the eyes. I have seen so many photos here that are so far from REALITY. The profiles that interest me have a photo of a comfortable relaxed person, maybe in jeans and a flannel shirt.

I guess I am easily intimidated, but when a person obviously has spent hours with a make-up artist and a professional photographer, and then puts that up as a profile photo it SCARES ME. How long will it take her to get ready to run out to the grocery store with me to pick up some stuff to make home-made pizza for the grandkids?

The photo you chose reveals what is important to you, your choice tells a whole bunch about your character and personality, about your likes and dislikes, what you want out of life.

This is not intended to be judgmental, it is just a statement of my preferences with regard to choice of photos.

It is even ok to include some OLD photos, from 20 or 30 years past. I have some pictures from back when I was a kid preacher in the 70s. The most recent picture I have is from my son's graduation last spring.

My oldest photo is from 2008. But my friends and I take pictures a lot in our college dorm, and we all have our own digital cameras, so it's pretty easy to be able to upload pictures.

The 1-year span is a good idea. I still look the same as I did in '08, which is why that picture is still up. If I looked drastically different I would probably take them down.

I also agree that it's important to put up "natural" pictures...ie what you look like on a normal day.

I agree we need to be honest, if we will falsely advertise and show pics that are way off or old then what else will we not be upfront or honest about. Mine are all within the last year. I want to see who I'm conversing with currently not as they were many years or lbs ago. Besides I need to be ok with who I am and especially who I am in Christ, otherwise I will be no good for a relationship either. An old pic or two are ok just so that isn't who we are claiming to be today.
