"Do you mean equal pay for equal work? Do you mean to have the "job" of wife and mother be elevated to the important status it deserves? Do you mean to have the right NOT to be abused by your husband?"

Are you saying that government take the right of employers to determine the value of a employee?

Do you mean that a mother should recieve wages and bennis from her husband?

Do you mean that a woman has no responsibility when choosing a evil man to unite her life with?

Help me out how you fight for these specific rights?

LTM2: You wrote, "Are you saying that government take the right of employers to determine the value of a employee?"

I'm saying that it should be considered discrimination if someone pays a woman less for doing the same job as a man.

You wrote, "Do you mean that a mother should recieve wages and bennis from her husband?"

Where are you getting that from what I said??? I'm saying society needs to value women's roles in the home as well as outside the home.

You wrote, "Do you mean that a woman has no responsibility when choosing a evil man to unite her life with?"

What??? Where are you getting this from what I wrote? Please don't put words in my mouth.

You wrote, "Help me out how you fight for these specific rights?"

There are many ways to try to secure equal rights for women. Of course, there are laws to guard against discrimination. But beyond that, society in general needs to learn to place a greater value on woman's role, be it in the home or outside of it.

Talking about this, calmly and respectfully, on this Forum is also a wonderful educational tool, don't you think?

Yes indeed,

You mentioned 3 specific things. What do you hope the government will do about these 3 things specifically? What is the answer you are looking for?

LTM2,

My responses have been to this, that you wrote: "The feminist movement fights for power but the Kingdom of God is the opposite of this, right? Did not Christ empty Himself and give up all power?"

With that statement, you indicate that you are not much informed on feminism. I have attempted enlighten you on what real feminism is about.

Then, you asked, "What is the answer you are looking for?"

Sir, I am seeking no answer from you. I am merely trying to share a Christian feminist perspective with you. Society needs to learn to value all of women's roles; the government has done what it can. The rest is up to us.

It is absurd to think that everyone is going to vaule everything equally, right? Does every human value the sacrifice of christ equally? Can one be forced to value something?

If you are looking for complete value of your being a mother and an employee then you live in a dillusioned state of mind.

It is just not ever going to happen. So what you are looking for is not that society will value but that society would be punished for not valuing, right? If the punishment is harsh enough then at least their would be an appearence of value, right?

It takes a love for God first to value what God values and few truly value Gods kingdom.

It would probably be good to define what Christian feminism is and what it supports. The secular example of feminism(even though original feminism itself might be good) does have quite a negative connotation to it, and not just because of crazy men. The feminism displayed in the public eye supports government sponsored abortion, making other people pay for their birth control, promotes that women are better than men, supports the flagrant and immodest sexuality that is displayed by quite a lot of the advocates of feminism, supports that women should make exactly what men do despite gender strengths/weaknesses for different jobs/roles, and cries "discrimination" for just about everything related to gender differences. Those are all things that a woman who is looking for the perfect blend of honest equality and biblical principles would not really be able to support.

Rocco254,

You asked, "How should society value the roles of women?"

While this is indeed a very broad topic, here are a few thoughts. As Christians, we know the value of a mother/wife to the family. Larger society needs to see that staying home and raising children is of paramount importance in any society. We are charged with raising up the next generation of men and women and it is arguably the most important "job" any of us will ever have. But, somehow, at least in the American culture, this has become translated into: "Oh, you don't work. You are just a mother." THAT could not be farther from the truth!

Also, with the economy in the US, most wives & mothers are also working outside the home, especially as our children leave the nest. Shouldn't we get paid the same as men for doing the same job?

For too long, men's value in society has been seen to be superior to women's value, mostly owing to men's work outside the home. Perhaps if more men understood what it takes to raise happy, healthy and productive Christian children, we would see less talk of women being "the weaker vessel."

But, now I'm rambling. So, those are just a few thoughts.

What? Perhaps I do not understand what you are saying. What gender strengths/weaknesses do you see that should effect equal pay?
